  • Cue ferrules!

    Gday Lads,

Just a quick post on cue ferrules. Was watching the WC and i noticed that their cue ferrules are shiney and mirror like, as if you can see your reflection in it. I had a look at mine and it was all dull faded and not to mention the scratches when doming the tip, just looks absolute crap haha. The cue is well but i never paid attention to the ferrule, so the question is; is there a way to get a consistent shiney ferrule looking new all the time, or are the players changing them everytime they go and play?

Leave your opinion and comments below and let me know ! Cheers Lads

    Best Regards,
    Thien.

So is it possible for a 0000 wool to damage the shalf of the cue if i get bit of it on there?

Just tape up the cue under the ferule with masking tape, or insulation tape.

i use ultra fine sand paper cut to same depth as ferule and a couple of inches long loop round ferule and hold between thumb and index finger then spin cue round a few times.result lovely shiney ferule and no damage to shaft of cue.

I would'nt use wet'n'dry or wire wool ever, no matter what grade it was. After time it will wear down the ferrule. What i used to do was to lick my finger and run it around the ferrule and then get the edge of a beer mat and spin the cue slowly lowering the card from the tip to the shaft. Although since that i discovered that a strip of leather cut to the height of the ferrule works wonders as it also burnishes the tip at the same time.
