A standard 3/4 cue has -normally- a 16" solid ebony butt and four small ebony splices on the around 42" ash shaft.
If you look a t a 1pc cue the butt is -normally- shorter, around 18"-19" because of the available ebony length.
So if you cut such a 1pc cue at 16" to get a 3/4 the cut will go through the splices.I am confused... Oh wait... Maybe I'm not...

Who ever bought that cue was ripped off one hundred percent.
for a Start I have been waiting for my Steve Davis Rep cue for just over two years now, and it has been a knightmare but it will be the most exact model to Steve's on the market. The spec of that cue is wrong. I have had Steve cue in my hands and had a good luck at it. Surprisingly it is very short at about 54" up to Steve's armpit. I'm I have also been playing with a cue this length for two years, so I know the length, my cue comes up to me armpit, and I have stood next to steve and our armpits are both level. so for it to be 57.5" inches as his book says and even parris said at first is utter rubbish I had a job convincing/persuading John Parris who eventially got Steve's cue in to the workshop and conformed the spec and have copied it for me. The butt is also not the norm because it was originally a billiard cue and had a bulbous butt on the end 32mm apprarently (Parris) confirmed by steve whaen I spoke to him, although when it was spliced it was shaped down into 30mm the one on ebay was just like an ambassador and was 29mm. Also it is about 19ozs not the weight on ebay. Steve has also seen the cue and tested it for me, and is now waiting for some alterations as from his feel. John as also told me that he won't be doing anything like this again as it was a knightmare to do.

WASTE OF TIME
It wont make you play like him will it?
I mean 29mm butt 30mm butt, come one stupidly fine details which mean nothing.

In most part I agree. Tip end, fair enough, 1mm = massive difference. Butt end 1mm = not so in my opinion.
I also think ADR has a very valid opinion that cues just do not look aesthetically pleasing when jointed thro' the splices, no matter how well they are done.
Finally, having an exact replica of a top Pro's cue unfortunately will not make you play in any way shape or form like him...FACT. However, if people have the amount of money required to (again in my opinion) waste on getting this done and it makes them happy, then let them go ahead and do it. Must admit, I know I'm in the wrong profession tho' as I think, as skilled a job as it is, in a lot of ways, it's a licence for cuemakers to print money!
