  • What Tip Should I Try Next?

I know there is loads of info on the subject of tips but I'm looking to get the answers I'm looking for all in one thread.

Tried Elks too many bad ones tried pro-granite to hard so whats left Mike Wooldridge, Talisman Soft, Talisman Pro, Kumai etc?

Please post the pro's & con's for your tip choice and as most tips come in packs of 3 or more, does somewhere sell them in ones so I can give the top tips ago.

Thanks in advance for all replies
    Rob

You've only to look on this forum to see some good reviews on Wooldridge, Talisman Soft and Kumai. Trial & error, see what suits your style.

I like an elk that's been played in.. but I'm guessing the pro granite is harder than that? Still yet to try out the PG I put on about 6 weeks back LOL.

Over all I've seen good and bad all on those you've listed.. good luck!

I have been using Elks for more than 15 yrs. I know there's only 20-30% out of the whole box is good, but try this:

Comepress the tip over night using one of this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RDGTOOLS-75MM-...item439a81056b

The whole box become usable and lasts a good amount of time.

i have been doing this exact thing for a while now and can confirm that the tips are pretty much 100% consistant when put in a press vice. have yet to leave one over night, will try this now though !

I have been experimenting with another method:

Soaking the tips over night in water, and compress them in a vise when still wet.

This should give better consistancy. I am with the new tip for a couple of days, so far I am very pleased.

I won't recommend this to laminated tip though. The soaking may break them apart.

I've done this too.. it really does work with Elks ( not sure about BlueDiamond ).

Still going to give the Pro Granite a try..

                          Yes that's them.

I am going to give a Talisman Water Buffalo a try next.

I like hard tips, and these are impregnated with chalk, unlike the Talisman pro's.
I hope this will make them less likely to develop a "shine", or become skiddy.
