Do you prefer FINE finish or Varnished?

cheers for replying guys, i understand that the preferable method is using oil to the shaft but what about the butts? Understanding that the oil can make the cue glossy but is it preferred that the butt is varnished and the ash or maple shaft is fine finished? I see the professionals cue on television, and there nice and shiney and glossed, surely they dont oil it everytime do they? Let me know what you think, and if it is the varnished butt, where can i get this done. Cheers
