I would like to hear what you all think about this.
I am thinking of placing my badge a bit lower like what is shown on the left.
Shown on the right is what I used to do.
If the pic on the left with the green background is A, and the one on the right is B--which do you prefer? A or B?

I prefer the badge a little smaller and "A".
Also have you considered changing the badge and putting a Canadian
Flag or Maple Leaf.
You are a Canadian cue maker, why not show that on your badge?
Just a thought!

...btw, please don't mind that, IMO, the badge is really low end, as a custom hand made product should be matched with a more premium branding plate. may focus on this issue in next topic if you feel neccessary.

i second that... i admire poolqjunkie's handiwork... imho, maybe a bronzed or ivory looking disc logo in cursive would be more fitting for such beautiful cues...

Its strange how such a small thing like the badge can cause a headache at times

I too have had the same problems. Ive gone up and down and finally settling for what im happy with. Originally I had my badges quite high (Pic 1). This was all down to the fact my flat was deeper and the barrel of the extension join used was 14.5mm or 12.7mm. So once you had removed the flat, bored out a hole of 3mm x 16mm any lower would of damaged the join.

The problem i always found with the flat was getting it so that it could hold the badge. Too shallow and the badge would be exposed, too deep and it will interfere with the join. Ive managed to work out the angle and ideal depth now that i have the badge 16mm from the base of the cue to the base of the badge (Pic 2).

I must say its still one job that i spend the most amount of time preparing. A few times its slipped and the postion is wrong which means having to remove the splice and start again....very fustrating!! I'll measure it out, measure again, set it up on the drill press, check again, go inside and have a coffee, come back and check and then go for it.

Go with what you feel happy with mate, its your stamp and your style

I like B, the wood under the badge will be more durable than A. I had seen some butt wood broken at that part.

I prefer the A+ to B- position midway between your 2 examples.

I also agree with a slightly more bold font although I presume you ordered a batch initially and it will take awhile to burn through those.

Would a plate be even possible now that we have the SD joints? I always found the plates to be a little more classy but you don't see them too much these days

Just doesn't look right when it is far up like in 'B' for my eyes.
