Umm.. so far for me is old jpu, but haven't try out others good cue maker, such as TW, MW, RC, NW, H&0, and many many more..........

You are going to get as many answers as there are cuemakers out there as this is all a matter of personal preference.

A player could like a cue from say MW but he might not like another cue with the same specs from the same cuemaker. It is a hit and miss proposition.

For myself, I've recently gone through 2 exercises in trying to find a cue that suits me. I tried Trevor White, Parris, Aurora, O'Min, UT, Acuerate, ADR147, Dan Shelton and B&W and finally settled on an Aurora cue. (I couldn't find a MW cue and didn't want to pay over 800quid and wait a long time just to try one out).

As I have to buy all these cues in order to try them out now I have a bunch of really good cues for sale, including 2 Trevor White.

However, someone else may really like any of these cues I have spare now

I purchased a B & W from Terry a year ago and liked it enough to order another. The new cue should arrive later this month. Tried a JP and used it only 4 or 5 months before returning to my fiberglass cuetec. "Different strokes..."

Like Terry sais its personal preference , one can only recommend the quality of a cue and not whether it will suits their game .

From a personal perspective i have bought and tried quite a good few cues lately and i found my Aurora best suited to my game , nice and solid yet quite responsive .

One bit of advice though is dont give up on a cue until you have tried a variety of different tips . The first tip i put on my Aurora just did,nt cut it and i was about to give up on the cue until i thought about trying other tips .

Well im tied between two cues , one with a talisman and one with the new talisman , botrh along with with the kamui are very nice tips and suit my game , whether they suit yours is another story . And i,ve

everyone thinks they have the prettiest wife at home... well, according to some people anyway... LOL...

i agree that it's all about personal preference... i've tried a couple of brands, both asian and overseas... for me, o'min has the better overall feel and balance... interested to try a MW cue after fiddling around with the VCM if just for feel... but they don't seem to be readily available from where i live.

but how about 888's second question? i.e. how do you tell if a cue is well-made? i mean, to a layman, they probably all look pretty similar... i gauge by looking for any visible defects in the grain, whether the joints and ferrule are fitted nicely, the smoothness of the shaft, if it gives a well-finished look overall, no funny sounds shaking the cue or when striking... and... i guess that's pretty much it...

any one has more technical tips to share on how to discern a well-made cue?

Im currently using a Omin CLIMAX 1 pc cue and like it cos I have traded my DUNNS 3/4 maple wit this OMIN and the feel is different but still cannot pot a staigtht shot....still waiting fro my JP Elite its been 3 weeks now,,,hope the parris cue worth my saving for years b4 I can afford one........HMMMMMMMMMMM

I've had and used loads of cues. The best made cue was a Robert Osborne i had a few years back, it was just beautiful, but i started to change things in my game and found it a little heavy and did not want to start messing about with it so sold it and got a new cue.
More recently i have had a Mastercue and now i have a Unique cue.
Both hit the ball incredibly well and are every bit as good as anything i have had previously.
A good bit of advice from Hotpot, try a few tips if you don't hit it off straight away. It might just be the tip is not best suited to you.
As for how to tell a good cue. I would say the quality of wood, grain pattern and craftsmanship(like even splices and straight taper, quality of finish).
