Andy Travis Cues. Anyone?

Ran a search in the TSF database, and came up with nothing

This guy has his own ebay account under the name of travis-cues

The shop says he's based in Sheffield.
I saw he was selling his cue on ebay not long ago, and it looked quite nice. or decent to say the least
Interestingly, he offers an invisible joint too.

By the looks of it, he seems like a genuine guy.

Just being curious, anyone met/seen him or used his cues/service?

ive had some cue joints made my him before he was helpful enough sending emails and answering my questions, ive never used one of his cues to comment on them but he was very helpful to me

ill second that my cue broke 20mm from tip he built me a new ferrukle re tapered the shaft excellent job ,hes been doin it for 20+ years , very nice chap indeed

I bought two cues of him from Ebay
worst workmanship ever
never even replied to my email when i emailed him with complaint

The person who bought 2 cues from me must have been happy, reason being he then asked me if i would make him a cue to his specifications.
I did post the 2 cues to south africa for about £55 but did not like the idea of posting 1 cue for the same postage price and worrying if it will get there as i did sending the 2 cues, then after a week after he recieved the 2 cues he emailed me saying that he had a problem with one of the shafts and will email me photos, i never recieved them, thats the last i heard from him, anyone who has dealt with me before will tell you i would have sorted it all out.

I'd be very happy to buy a cue from trav again. I bought a "cheapy" from him off e-bay last year. Great value for money and I still use it from time to time.

let me set the records straight here.

When I did send you the email of complaint I received no reply. I then took it that you did not cared and I was rather dissapointed and left the matter aside. I could have slandered you in a seperate thread all on my own but I did not. When did thread did pop up I gave an honest opinion of my experience with your cues Andy. I am not saying you don't make good cues, just that I received two bad examples of cues. That being sadi many guys here are very happy with what you have sold them but not me and again my complaints are legitimate. Had you replied to my email of complaint I would have outlined and sent pics to you of what I am talking of. I have dealt with just a handful of people on this thread and they can all vouch for me in that I am honest in my dealings. As for my enquiring whether you could do a custom cue, that was before I received your cues. I have not used either cue even once and I have not placed it for sale here or anywhere else as I would not be happy to sell it with a clear conscience.

Not wanting to get in the middle here but .. this sounds to me like an honest miss-communication/miss-understanding on one or both sides. You expected a reply to the initial complaint, he expected you to follow up with photos .. when neither of those happened things stalled.

Internet communication can be a bit like that, everyone has different expectations about how it's supposed to work. When you add to that, that email is not 100% reliable and can sometimes be delayed by anything from 1 hour to several days, or go missing altogether thanks to an over zealous spam trap and it can sometimes be damn hard work connecting the dots.

Not a word of concern in the event that i may have a legitimate complaint
I am having a problem uploading the pics here as they are big pics but if anyone wants to have a look let me have your email and I will send you the pics I sent to Travis. I have not as yet hit a shot with either cue as I am really dissapointed with what I received. Most of the problems are with the shaft and not with the butt end of the cue

sanman/trav How about you guys take your dispute off-line? The Forum isn't really the place to sort out grievances. Forum members have now heard both sides of the arguement and can request photos if interested.
