Do not give Dan any cause/excuse for not coming back, guys.

One final chance to fill his orders, I say, even though some have waited silly amounts of time.

      • He said that the workshop is nearly sorted and that all the heavy machinery is in.he said there are different cues at different stages of completion some at 95% some 50% and some 20%. Once he knows where he is with his orders he says he will ccontact them with an update.he too me to expect a call needy week.I know he has been through a lot but he sounded like he is trying to get his head around business.good luck to him and hopefully he can start producing the kind of cues that made us order from him in the first place.

A cruel attempt at humour? Maybe, though I wouldn't have described it as cruel. I certainly don't see anything else humourous about this whole situation so yes, it was an attempt at humour, to maybe lighten the situation

Go ask Willytan where his JP minibutt is that was supposed to have been posted a year back.
Go ask Jason where the cue is that Dan had in his possesion, a year ago.

I bet they aren't seeing much humour either.

Head in the sand if you wish but I don't know any business that wouldn't have been visited by the police by now.

Best of luck to all of you that have ordered but the positives that have been stated about him in the last few posts are nothing different to what has been posted many times over many months.

hes not a business though is he? hes just some bloke off an internet forum who seems to have dissapeared with a lot of peoples money..... all i see is excuse after excuse coming through periodically... thank god i didnt order a cue off him otherwise i would have been finding out where he lives and turning up on his doorstep by now demanding either a cue or my cash there and then.

              • Fair comment Andy, he probably isn't a business given his turnover is likely to be extremely small. That said, he still appears to have taken money for goods that from the evidence so far (he hasn't bothered supplying the goods) aren't being supplied and so is still just as worthy to a visit from the police.
I think we're singing from the same hymn sheet though. Yet again someone has been in touch, yet again he'll but up and running soon, yet again there is no firm committment and yet again despite knowing how this thread is going, he hasn't even logged in to look at it.

Dan, if you read this then do yourself a favour and sort it out fast and let people who have money with you know even faster. You may have issues but they could get a whole lot bigger if someone finally decides to sort this out for you.

                • exactly, the guys on here who are owed money, just seem to accept it, are being far too nice and hopefully if this lad can be arsed, in a year or 2, might get a cue off him! and it might just be 'the one'! its some sort of joke surely?

the money must go into thousands thinking about it, and how do you know he's not been on a 6 month bender, on the white stuff or is hooked on prossies lol.

                  • hope i didnt seem over harsh though, but i get the feeling he needs a kick up the backside on this rather than everyone mollycoddling him and soothing his bruised ego..

whats it been over a year now for some people?

he has had a warning and i believe some people are starting to get cues now.

                      • I'm not trying to defend Dan in the slightest but it is not a matter for the police - the police exist to enforce criminal law (rather than civil law) so they would only be interested if there was fraud involved - ie, he knowingly took money off you and, at that time, he had no intention of delivering the goods or services ...

that clearly isn't the case so it's a civil law matter - if you feel peeved, ask citizen's advice for their assistance or make a claim in the small claims courts but you're probably better off simply waiting or politely asking him for your money back ...

a word of caution ... a few posters have said things of the ilk "I'm going to knock on his door and get my money back" ... OK, fair enough, I understand it's probably just letting off steam but say he was attacked by a person unknown - just a street robbery - well then the police would investigate and there's probably about 5 or 6 potential suspects on this thread ... I appreciate you're just letting off steam but do you really want the hassle of trying to explain that to the police ... "where were you on Monday night" ... "down the snooker hall practicing" ... "can anyone vouch for that" ... "no, but I hit three 147's in a row" ...

I'm not even sure what the great Mike Wooldridge is saying ... Mike, I think, said he provided all the kit for a workshop for free ... but there again didn't Dan provide the programming for MW's new supa-dupa cue design thingy ... I don't know if Mike paid Dan for that or whether is was quid-pro-quo ...

for all those who have paid Dan money and have been waiting since 2009, I think you have the patience of saints but I think you're only realistic options are either to continue waiting and hoping or to politely ask him for your money back ...

i've said it before on here and i'll make it clear again.

me and dan worked very hard together to create vcm. basically my design, my ideas, and dan worked out the coding to make it all work.

we had a deal on this from the start. bought and paid for. IN FULL.

dan has also had to correct some people about this on here before.

so, i trust this wrong assumption that i somehow owed dan anything, is now cleared up once and for all.

                          now to facts:

i got to know him very well over the two years it took (not that it was actually worked on full time for two years but was fitted in as and when bits could be done) and we spent many late nights chatting, running through ideas, having a laugh, and ultimately becoming great friends.

during this time, dan became more and more interested in cues and cuemaking in general. he would often be doing little repairs etc. at home in the kitchen, but was desperate to learn and do more, and i was there helping him along the way.

finally, there came a point (late one night after a few too many beers), when i decided that dan needed a massive boost to make a serious go at cuemaking. he was stuck with no proper tools, nowhere to work properly, and could neither afford the time or money to 'change his life'.

he was stuck in a rut. well and truly.

but, cos i am a legend , i decided i would step up and help my friend dan do what he really wanted to do. i felt he deserved an opportunity, and i was in a position to do that for him.

so i offered the workshop and tools. free of charge. a gesture of kindness. cos that's how i roll

at first he could not believe i would do this. i mean, why would anyone?

but like i said, we became great friends, and i felt he really did deserve a break.

so he told me what room was available in his garden, and i built him a workshop at my place. dismantled it, drove it up to oxford, and put it together in one day.

as well as kitting it out with a lathe, bandsaw, planer and a few other bits and pieces.

a fully functional cuemaking workshop in one day. quality.

i also gave him some very direct, very blunt advice:

do not run before you can walk. i.e. they will queueing up from tsf and you MUST NOT take a load of orders on cos you are not ready.

looooooollllllllll. we all know what happened there.

circumstances and inexperience have affected dan. but he is not a bad person and i'm certain everyone will get what they paid for. eventually...

on a positive, constructive note, i have just spoken to him again and can tell you all he is almost ready in his new workshop, and has every intention of clearing his backlog and making things right with all his customers.

or as i said earlier in the thread. i will kill him.

                          • If it were me that had ordered a cue from him i would look at the positive side of things, when the cue eventually arrived it will be an antique so its value would have shot through the roof and far outweighed what was originally paid for it. Their is always a positive that you can take from every situation.

LOL, no positive for me with this im afraid after waiting 17 months ive ended up spending over £300 with Robin Cook for another cue
Just because its old, doesn't mean its worth a fortune!!

Thats money well spent though and is a positive in my opinion, only downside is i bet you wish you'd have done this 17months ago !
