  • New Cue

Since i have now turned 18 i can get into my local Working Mens Club and it has two full size snooker tables, just wondering if anyone could reccomend me a cue that is good value for money for a beginner.

    Thanks, Rob

How much do you want to spend mucka ?
Do you know what specs you want ?
do you prefer ash or maple ?
If your serious about the game then i would get a custom made cue , either new or pheraps one off the forum , theres usually a good few going .

ask if they have any old abandoned cues in the place often you can find a good one there.

        I agree.
If you can find a good cue from your club just keep it. Even if you order a very expensive cue it may or may not hit/play better than that rack cue you really like.
Put a good tip on the cue that you like and test it for a few weeks. You will know if it is the cue for you or not.
        Good luck.

Unsure about the price just a decent starter cue, im not too serious about the game its just the the cues in the club are the one-piece pool cues which are rubbish for snooker

just a cheap machined cue - i have several cue craft centre split ones you can have one for half that.

Rob Just a few comments from me for what they're worth. Centre jointed cues are a bit old fashioned now but that doesn't matter much. Most folks are going for 3/4 jointed or 1 piece. Hard cases with space for chalk are better than those soft cases where you slide the cue in and out. An extension for the cue is IMO a must. Once you have one its surprising how often you use it.
Given that you're new and don't know what specification (length, weight, tip size) you require I wouldn't spend much just now. Get a hold of something and see how it compares to the club cues. Have a look at the Craftsman budget cues.

agree with all that but thats a lot of money for a cheap cue.

thanks, is there any advantage from having 3/4 jointed over a normal middle jointed cue?
