  • My new WL snooker cue! :)

Hi again, just to let you all know that I have just got my new cue! It is a WL sports cue, and I just wanted to post this thread, as there is not much information/ pictures regarding these cues on the web. (P.S, does anybody know about these cues? Nothing on the internet i could find :S.. and possibly what the WL stands for?)

I just wanted to know aswell, from all the more experienced players, which type of woods they think has been used to make the splices in my cue, and also you opinions and an approxiamation on how much you think I paid for the whole lot. (Case, cue, mini butt and telescopic extension.)

    Post your opinions below

Basically its mass produced Chinese stuff & it should have cost around £35 for the whole package, cue case extensions etc, which is good really for a complete set.

Very difficult to say what woods are used usually rosewood for the butt, but when you strip one of these cues down it can be very surprising whats underneath sometimes nothing, on the splices, veneers etc.

Doesn't really matter though long as your happy with it, you got it at a great price & you play ok with it thats fine.

I know someone that uses a similiar cue & knocks in 100 breaks on a regular basis so he thinks there great, but many players wouldn't entertain having one in favour of a genuine hand made cue from one of our leading cue makers but its all down to our individual budgets really, but as the old saying goes you generally get what you pay for.

Hope you play well with it mate & enjoy your snooker.........

        Chris:

It is a mass produced Chinese made cue but that's not to say it won't play well. Generally these cost me around $135.00(CAN) delivered, which is around 75quid or so and I think it's a great price for what you get.

I've seen that badge with the star before somewhere but I have no information for you on the manufacturer.

He might not have seen the reply yet mate.......don't suppose there's any harm done between £35 to £50 really but would be happier at lower end.

Re JP cue, good lad i hope you got the price you wanted, your Burwat looks a nice cue as well to be fair & from a playing point of view it will be better than most original Burwat's having had a new shaft, the grain match doesn't look bad either looking at the photo's.

Well the cue dosent look mass produced to me, the splices look handmade similar to my old cue, and it plays excellent and has a complete better finish to my other cues... I paid 100 for it all and I think thats a good price as it is a very high standard, and sounds completely different to a package your desribing Ant :S.. The case alone would be worth more than 35... the exact telescopic extension goes on the internet on websites for 35-40.. and a mini but would be worth at least 10.00, and not even methoining the cue...

Just my opinion mate generally on these & of course quality may vary a bit, but is probably best judged fairly over time, there are lots of packages available like yours & the only thing that changes really are the badges hence the reason why you can't find much out about them on the internet.

But we all have different ideas on things depending on our own experience & what we've seen to make comparisons with, as I said though as long as your happy with the price you paid, the quality & how it plays that's all that matters really.

                Pardon me for my blundness..
I have contacted a china supplier for such cases n they quoted me as little as USD24 for the leathercases with a min. order of 5pcs.
As for the cue, it is not how the finish looks but the shaft selection which matters.

Does not matter how much you paid for it

If your happy with it then its priceless. I got a Geordie pool of England cue years ago on ebay for £6. Was an awful cue to look at....but an awesome playing cue. Ive had cues that are 100x the price and been terrible players.

If the woods are indeed woods then it looks like to be Ash shaft, Rosewood butt and mini butt with maple veneers and Kingwood splices.

                  Have fun and don't worry

Exactly, it is not about what others say. When it is in your hand and you feel like it is an extension of your arm--then it is priceless to you and that is really what counts.
Just enjoy the cue and enjoy the game.

I bought 30 WL cues from e bay @ £10 each last year, I had 1Klik joints installed and I gave them away to customers as gifts at Christmas.
They look like hand made cues, and are well worth £10.

I am quite sure it's a China made mass produced cue. I saw that blue metal ring on the long extension which was quite commonly found on China made cues. I don't think the woods are actually Rosewood and Kingwood(they were too expensive for these cues). The Chinese cue factories imported different spices of wood from Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam. I never found these wood on UK cues and did not know what they were called in English.

So long as you get on well with it, it doesn't really matter where it came from.
