Oil or wax ?

Hi all,

what do you use on your shaft?

I have tried linseed oil which seems pretty good but was wondering
if a good quality wood wax would be better?

you can buy little bottles of oil of ebay for a couple of pound mike wooldridge sell his own as does dave coutts and craftman cues sells it to i think try 1 of those it might be more to your liking.

tried linseed oil

I hope that was Raw Linseed Oil?
I personally have been using a bottle of raw linseed oil from the local iron-mongers for many years which very satisfactory results.
As I still have quite a lot of oil left in the bottle I wont be trying out any of the "specialised" oils from the cuemakers as previously mentioned for some time to come.
Saying that, I have not seen on this forum whether there are dramatically better or worst results than normal raw linseed oil.
Would be good to get some specific postings on the results of these, either way.

i personaly think raw linseed oil is crap it takes ages to dry properly. the little bottles from mike wooldridge well if he is useing it to finish is cues then it must be good stuff

Same here Dean , raw linseed oil does the job.

I've heard a rumour that someone abroad sells a cuemakers oil and all it is , is a standard oil from his workshop , bloke has some sent over by the cuemaker and puts oil in little bottles with the cuemakers name on it . Sells it as his special oil .
