  • Cues For Sale

I have gathered a small collection of cues while I've been looking for 'THE' cue as a lot of you know. I now have about 10 nice cues that I would like to sell and they will be at bargain prices for sure. All are ash shafts with ebony butts and most have splices and veneers and most will come with cases and extensions if required (or as noted with the cue) Shipping will be extra. I don't know how to post pictures on here so if anyone wants to see a photo of a particular cue email me at - terrydavidson45(at)gmail(dot)com and I will gladly forward. All cues are guaranteed straight and have been tested (and in some cases refurbished) by me. The cues are:

    1. Used Aurora 1pc,57", 17.2oz, 9.4mm brass, 29mm butt, balanced at 15" - SOLD
    2. Used UT 1pc, 57", 18.3oz, 9.4mm brass, 29mm butt (no flat) 18" balance point - SOLD
    3. New Omin 3/4, 57", 18.4oz, 9.2mm, 29mm balanced at 16" - 150pounds (price change)
    4. Used UT 3/4, 57", 18.0oz, 9.2mm, 28mm balanced at 17.5" - GONE
    5. Used Acuerate 3/4, 57", 18.2oz, 9.4mm, 28.5mm balanced at17" - 180pounds (price change)
    6. Used H&O Red Plate 3/4, 57", 18.1oz. 9.7mm, 30mm blanced at 17" - 270pounds (price change)
    7. New Dark Horse 3/4 (bought as an experiment) 57", 18.9oz, 9.7mm, 29.5mm balanced at 16" (just mini-butt)-90pounds
    8. New Aurora 3/4, 58", 19.1oz, 9.4mm, 29mm balanced at 17"- 350pounds NOW SOLD
    9. Two Andy Travis 3/4, 57.5", 17.5oz, 10mm, 30mm butt balanced at 16.75" priced as a bargain at 130pounds each (mini-butts only). These 2 cues needed some work and I have straightened them and put on premium tips. Both now hit very well and have fairly fancy butts with splices and veneers.

I'm still looking for 'THAT' cue and have 3 more coming and I'm sure I've got the specs right this time but all of these are very good cues with good hits and all are perfectly straight with good ash grain.

If you want to pass on a case or long extensions I will drop the price to reflect that.

The prices are already in my first post with each cue. (I don't have a BPS symbol on my north american keyboard so 350pounds means 350 pounds sterling). If you don't want a case knock off 40quid if a case is included in the price (not Andy Travis or B&W). I will send pics but what cue(s) are you interested in as I'm limited to 2Meg attachments with my email. jrc will be posting all the pics on the string shortly.

          jrc:

pics sent and thank you very much for posting

Thank a lot, I really appreciate the help. I forgot to add the 2 B&W because they are machine-spliced and hand finished but they are low-priced cues. Actually they both hit very well but have no SD sockets so they would be hard to sell unless someone wants a good budget cue.

                cazmac:

Yes, I'm DESPERATE to find a really good 3/4-butt that I like. Right now I'm using a Robin Cook (modified by TW) but am waiting for one TW, one LK.T and one Dan Shelton pearwood shaft. I'm hoping the TW or the LK.T will be the 'ONE' although I hear the pearwood is a really lively type of shaft and it will be interesting to try that one out. Unfortunately a long wait for all 3 of them and I'm still suffering.

If I can sell some of these cues I think I will go on here and post my specs and see what's out there for sale.

Terry, it's interesting to know which cues you are NOT going to sell
What is your favorite one that you play now?

Notice the Robin Cook (modified by TW but unbadged) is not on the list for sale and neither were the 2 B&W machine spliced, hand finished cues although I'm using the RC/TW I'm swithering on one of the B&W's as my long potting with that cue is really good for some reason, better than any other cue in my collection and I really don't understand why that is

Hi Terry, back in your playing days over in the UK, what type of cue did you use and what happened to it ?? or have you still got it but its not up to the modern game ?
You are obviously a good player (and a great coach), so why do you think it is that you cant settle on one cue ?? Ime always being told down the club to stop messing about trying different cues out & just get used to one & stick to it !
Is it all in the mind - and you really can play well with a cue if you give it long enough ?

                          jrc:

In my heydays (such as they were) in the 80's I used a custom-made JP and I felt I really played well with that cue, especially making the long pots to get in and then having good cueball control for a good break. I had 3 practice 147's with it and countless tons, even had a few in tournaments.

When I returned to Canada in 1988 the ferrule cracked after a deep screw mis-cue and I had to shorten the cue to install another ferrule and it never felt the same after that. I ended up selling it to a Toronto player who doesn't play in tournaments at all so I don't see it.

I"ve ordered 3 more JPs since (not recently) but I never did find any cue that matched than old JP. The closest one is my 1pc Aurora and although it's probably me, I just don't feel any of my cues are the equal to that old JP.

I've been thinking I might bite the bullet if I manage to sell a few of these cues and order a top-of-the-line custom from JP, but they are pretty expensive these days even though my specs are pretty normal.

I remember talking to John before I ordered the cue and he told me his stock of ash that he used for the customs was 40 years old and that may be why that cue played so well, who knows?

In actual fact I have another older UT 1pc here with a round butt which seems to play as good as the JP but I'm still trying to find a 3/4-butt. The closest I've come is a TW which I played very well with for a short time but I stupidly sold it along with two other cues to a guy in HK.

Once I find 'THAT' cue I will stick with it as I played with that JP for over 10 years until the ferrule went

Just in case anyone is interested, I would sell either of the B&W cues shown in the pics for 125pounds plus shipping, which is exactly what I paid for them. Sort of a TSF special as I've had them hanging around for awhile.

They are brand new and unused except for me testing them but be aware they do not come with a case or extensions nor do they have an SD socket fitted.

Their specs are 57.5", 18.5oz, balanced at 17.5", butt diameter is 29mm and one has a 9.5mm brass and the other has a 9.5mm black fiber ferrule. They are machine spliced and hand finished.

These two cues hit very well and are medium-stiff with premium tip (Pro Granite I believe but can't truly remember what I installed on them). I have changed the ferrules on both cues as I didn't like the originals which were off-balance and not centered well. Everything is perfect on them now and both are perfectly straight.

These would be a very good budget cue for someone who was learning snooker and isn't ready to spend 500pounds on a custom made cue.

Terry I too had and older JP Exclusive which was a great cue, apart from the 8.35mm tip. I then bought a new JP Regal which I had for 6weeks it was not a good player or a good finished cue (think JP standard has gone down hill a bit).
I now have a TW cue which plays great and the finish is second to none.

I guess what I'm trying to say is trawl the internet for that 'old' JP cue you once played so well with.
                              Good luck with the sales
