  • Looking for a new pool cue ~£70

    Hey there guys,

Basically, I'm a student and play pool with my University club twice a week and when I'm back home I play in the local pub league.
I'm not new to the game but I'm not exactly great either, basically just play for fun with the hope of getting better..

Anyway (after rambling on a bit) I'm looking for a new cue as my last one kinda disappeared.

I've looked at the WOODS cues on eBay but after reading some threads on here, it seems like they're not regarded that highly.

Could you guys please point me in the right direction

    Many thanks,
    -Matt

I picked up a lovely 3 piece 57" Peradon for £60, from a shop in Bedford called Sportsform. Have a hunt around ebay, welshpool trading?

    Starter for 71... http://www.sportsonlineltd.com/product.php/2756/0

Thanks a lot for the replies guys, really appreciate it.

@Dantuck_7, What can you tell me about the Peradon cues? I'm not really familiar with any cues to be honest, so really unsure what I'm even meant to be looking for when trying to find one. I do like the idea of an 8-8.5mm tip though

@hotpot, Really appreciate the offer mate but it's out of my price range really. I'm just looking for a cue that will last a few years without spending too much.

Hi Logistiks, Yep Peradon make some very reasonable cues, for the odd league game every week it should do you just fine and last for a fair few years, if looked after well. I actually bought mine to have it shortened (ongoing story!) :-)

Might also be worth taking hotpot up on his offer and have a look at some of the cues he has going, if you want to start playing snooker (which will help your pool no end) then do have a think about getting something slightly more expensive. As with any cue you never really know what its going to be like until you start using it.

Dan, don't they have something in craftsman which might meets his needs?
FWIW, 100 GBP for a quality cue that lasts you a few years is better than 70 GBP for a cue that needs replaced after a year or so.
Hotpot knows his cues and his price is very reasonable.

There could be a craftsman second hand that might suit, maybe something like this...

              http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Craftsman-Clas...item230abf8f16

which is currently 39 quid, you could probably find a new Peradon somewhere for 40-50 quid if you were lucky. I personally think Peradons are good value cues, for 8-ball pool they'll be good enough. Depends what logistik is after really, anyway let us all know what you decide upon.

I agree its not much more for that mastercaft, which is a bargain no doubt.

Is it true that some lower end Peradon are made in the Far East while Mastercraft are all built in the UK?

Thanks a lot for all the replies lads. Dantuck, it seems that cue you posted from eBay has a bend in it (edit on the listing) and I personally wouldn't really know what to do with it.

Hotpot, could you post some photos of the cue you've mentioned? I guess going up to £100 wouldn't be a huge deal but it's not entirely easy to justify the additional cost

Anyway, thanks again for the replies lads, always appreciated.

Hi mucka i could add a pic but theres no substitute for feeling the cue or even better knocking a few balls around with it .

If possible i would advise you to come up and try it out , or i can come to Cardiff and meet you .

Cheers for agreeing to have a look when you get home.

May be a silly question (since it's not stated) but will the cue come with a case?

                          Cheers,
                          -Matt
