  • Veneers

Does anybody know whether it is possible for veneers (preferably 4) to be inserted into a cue? My cue has a plain ebony butt and if possible I would like to have 4 veneers added.

Yes, they can always be added, but perhaps not like you think.

They don't necessarily get 'inserted', but instead, it would mean you would have to remove a part of the exsisting butt by planing it off, and then replace the removed timber in the form of splices, with the veneers sandwiched between the exsisting butt and new splices.

It might sound a little complicated but it isn't and should not be too expensive to get done.

Whether you feel it's worth the effort and expense in another matter though.

I understand what you mean Trevs, thank you for your advice and explanation. My next question was going to be would or could it lead to the cue being extended. Based on your answer the question is obviously no.

Yes, to add length to that would be easy enough.

Any half decent cue maker could do that I'm sure.

I know cues can be extended, but I was kinda hoping that if the veneers were inserted as opposed to being added, that process would automatically lead to the cue being lengthened so that I could increase the tip size by having it chopped back down at the top to the length it is now.

I believe it is quite expensive to have a cue lengthened.

              Nope.
extension by adding splice is ard 80 -120GBP depending what material you use.
              Postage is the expensive one.
