Hi folks, aint been on for a bit, hope your all good...
Recieved my new FLAME custom cue a fortnight ago from our newest in house cue maker, forum member "flame". Thanks bill...
Well happy with the cue fairplay took to it more or less straight away, the feel, the balance, the finish is second to none fairplay to bill. After 2 hours playing i was on for a 72 break and fluffed the green with all colours on spots...D'oh...so had to settle for a 47... had a whack of 30's and 40's with the few hours i have played with this cue, and i never played for 2 months atall before having this cue, so all good and happy daze...:snooker:
Havnt played for a week now tho as the weather has been , well you know...
The cue is perfectly balanced and spec is exactly what i wanted
Theres one or two splice points that are slightly off but out of 22 splices that have been crafted by somebody who has made only a few cues is top notch, there are obviously areas bill will get better in has he has only made a few so he's defo going in the right direction, the craftsmanship is very good fairplay. and we've all seen top cue makers cues with splices slightly out so no biggie with one or 2 points being out, there are 22 of them so quite impressive for a maker just starting out eh.... bill has recently setup a new lathe and told me his cue making will get "better", well if it gets better than this for the prices he charges i dunno what to say, only :snooker:
If theres one thing i absolutely love about this cue, the taper, bill has tapered the cue exactly how i like a cue to be tapered, it's tapered slightly slimmer than some other makers, it just feels better slimmer i tells ya......
Oh yeah, the finish is super silky smooth, love it...
I have used a few different shafts over the years, i think i started playing with a pearwood cue when younger and over the years had a load of ash shafts and my most recent cue being ash, this switch to maple has'nt been a problem what so ever, as a matter of fact i think i'm a maple man from now on...:snooker:
I think the slimmer taper bill has done on this cue makes for not a too stiff of a shaft, the shaft i would say is medium stiff and strikes the ball nicely, not too firm not whippy in the slightest either..like i said, it's just right (for me anyways)...
Bill is a joiner by trade and is no stranger to a piece of timber or 2 like, and it really does show in his cue making abbilities.
Thanks for building this cue for me bill you are a gent and a pleasure to deal with buddy....
