I don't really want to get inot answering too many questions on this, because it can go on and on and lead to many other questions.
Long is anything above 58.5" in my view, and above 59" is definitely getting very long. I'm not surprised that your cue does not feel the same as it did, and, unless you are well over maybe 6'4" / 6'5" tall, you wouldn't need a cue above 59" long.
As for getting into the playability of longer cues, that's a long topic and depends on other factors also.
