My new MW Cue

Hi, I just recieved my new Shark cue from Mike Wooldridge today. It is my first handmade cue, and it plays very well compared to my old cue. The balance is great and the finish is superb. One thing does worry me slightly, but i believe you can give me some advice. The (ash) shaft is a little bit sticky, so I have tried to buff it with a piece of cloth, but its not quite as smooth as I would like.

Maybe its because the weather here in Denmark is very cold so the difference from out to in is huge, but please let me hear from you, should you have any sort of advice about this.

Try sandpapering with some high grids sand paper, then apply some linseed oil. Leave it for a day or two, after that wipe the cue with a piece of damp cloth and quickly dry it off with a piece of dry cloth.

Do not sand paper the cue just get a damp cloth rub down the cue and buff with a dry cloth. Just use a damp cloth once you will probably have to buff wih a dry cloth or paper towels every day until the oil in the cue stops leeching out. I get the same problem here in Australia.Hope this helps.:snooker:

I burnish mine with a piece of leather, can't imagine using sandpaper on it, though Mike told me I could sense the oil is IN the wood, not on it. Owell, if it needed sandpaper I figure Mike woulda done that before he shipped it to me.

I ended up using a damp cloth and then using a dry cloth to buff dry it. Now the cue is very smooth, and it plays just right.
