  • Ebay - Hard way to sell a cue!!

Just sold a JP Ultimate on ebay and wanted to share what hard work it was.

Bids from suspect scammers, non payers. Managed to weed 2 of these off by cancelling there bids.

Countless offers of £200 with abuse if politely declined.

No-one seems to bid untilt he last 45 seconds making it quite a boring process.

Ive sold alot of old vintage cues via ebay where you tend to deal with the same group of people and its enjoyable but this is one of the rare times that ive sold a modern very desirable cue and was a lot of hassle.

Got £720 in the end and to a good uk based buyer so happy with the end result.

I had the same, must be something about Parris buyers when I sold my last one. Sold 3 times before someone actually paid for it. First time, someone claimed it was their younger brother using their account without permission, the 2nd time having driven to meet someone - he said he wouldn't buy it because it didn't have a joint on the bottom (one of the pictures clearly showed the leather pad..) what did he think it flipped up to reveal the joint or something?

            That is funny.

I guess it is important to have a sense of humor in the midst of all the bad experience.

Do you feel perhaps that this kind of bad experience do not only happen on ebay but is more related to the market which is intersted in a certain brand and/or cues in a certain price range?

That must made you go nuts not knowing if it would be sold at your price until the very end.

i normally know within £20 or so what a cue will finish at but its the fees that kill you.

I agree. The fees are bad enough when you do it as a straight auction but if you do it as a BIN then between paypal and ebay fees you are losing a fortune.

I have almost gave up selling expensive items on ebay as the amount of scammers and time wasters is beyond a joke.

I am a jeweller and have tried to sell some diamond jewellery that I made my self and all I got was buyers form Nigeria and others that has hijacked someone elses ebay account and wanted me to send to a different address. I didn't fall for it but the problem is that if a crook 'buys' your item the auction stops and when you get it investigated you can't re-list until they sort it out.

Too many crooks selling as well for people to trust the genuine sellers.
Ebay and paypal are not really interested in sorting out some issues either.
