  • Can you replace ferrule without cutting tenon?

Have an uneven ferrule, and want to fix it before trying a laminated tip. Is it possible to shorten it a bit, or does that run the risk of it coming loose or affecting the contact?

I don't want to replace the ferrule if that means shortening the cue.

Some Cues that are very old and have had Tips put on them for many years by People who really dont know what there Doing Have either Uneven Ferrule or Digs in Ferrule.

If the Ferrule is Solid and Only alittle Uneven you can Level it yourself with File but make sure your very Careful and get it Level.

If your Not too Confident in doing this then I would Suggest taking it too your Local Cuemaker or Machinist.

Cheers, think I'll give it to the cuemaker after all.

          ferrule

you can buy a tweetens cue tip topper (£10.20 plus delivery) from cue power co.uk and have a go trying to level it for a new tip

If the ferrule is solid, then just try to use a blade to check how uneven it is and slowly and carefully you might be able to level it, depending on your skill. You can take it to a cue doctor to have it faced nicely on a lathe, it is not a complex job.
If the ferrule is loose, you can just take it off without cutting it shorter.
