  • Need Inspiration or Comment on Cue Design

I am making my own cue similar to this attached Omin's Union 5. Maple Shaft. But I want to change the middle 4 splices from Redwood to Clean White Maple. 1 pc. Will name it 'Black&White' What do you think ? Sample pictures of any B&W cue(s) ?
    Any comment/input is appreciated. Tks.

Yeah, Curly or Birdseye Maple ...plain white would be a bit bland for me....only speaking personally of course.

I would never use a birdseye maple as an in-between splice, but only as the finishing front splice.
          to beautiful to hide.

I tend to agree but the splice in the cue above is hardly " waffer thin " !

Would use a wood with a very slight but glossy yellow tint to it for the splices.

cueinhand : I am doing it in February, not June Funny You
By the way, so many people are saying 'For what' as I have a lot of more beautiful woods. Might have to give up this B&W design. Curly Maple would be a good choice. Tks cueinhand

Agree Fred. People here saying if I can do up to snakewood job, why go back to simple design

hi unclevit, if the upper splice of ebony is only on the top(not 4 splices all round the butt) i would be tempted to shorten it, to allow the bird's eye maple to be more visible, Bill.

flame ; good thought. tks. Perhaps I will do in 12 splices version, with 4 middle and 4 butt splices, all in deep black ebony wood, underneathed with thick white maple or milkwood
BTW, your leopardwood splice is looking good

Check out my album and you'll see my TW cue with fiddleback maple splices.
The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
