  • IS a slimmer cue butt better for a smoother action?

Not sure if anyone else here has experienced the same... I've found with my JP (with 2-3in" faceplate is 25-26mm slim in places) easy to use. I've tried to use a thicker butt cue but just cannot adapt I find when using a slimmer cue, inc. butt my action is smoother and feels more natural. I'm putting this down to "what I'm used to". But technically, does a slimmer butt help with deep screw/power shots? I don't have the biggest hands so maybe that's it right there... anyone else had a similar experience?

Been thinking of emailing Trevor with adjusted specs but don't wish to trouble him, unless I'm absolutely sure I'm thinking along the right lines here... cue on order has a 27mm butt. Been thinking of changing to similar spec of my JP, which is @ 25mm. What do you guys think?

My hands are not very big and tried to order a cue a bit slimmer than the usual 29.5mm, but Trevor talked me out of it. Have found that 29.5 is quite ok, but do think if any bigger, then would not suit me.

      I play with a slimmer butt 28mm.
I find it more comfortable to play with compared to a 30mm butt.
It feels more natural to play with and my cueball control is better.

regarding the first post, are you sure its only 25mm? especially as its a parris?

            cos 25mm is very thin.

its always about the shaft mate.

thats right. we make cues. not knitting needles.

                    here be facts:

                    i like slim butts. YEAH!

they are better. (don't argue or i'll play you for money)

27mm is unnecessarily slim but not totally ridiculous. however, if you you think it will improve your game, it won't.

28mm is probably as slim as you need to go if you REALLY want a very slim butt. but be sure about that cos 28mm (measured properly) is VERY slim.

28.5mm is the slimmest that MOST slim cues are.

29-29.5mm is what MOST people are comfortable with.

if you wanna 'believe' anything else in your search for the 'perfect' cue, go ahead. but i'm telling you now, you're wasting your time cos what you see above are 100% stone cold facts.

                            slim butt

hi mike what about people of different build small guy to big guy some people have small hands some have big, take a big bloke with prob big hands a standard cue would be like a knitting needle, and small slim guy with small hands it would feel rather tree trunkish wouldnt it,ime not a small guy 5-10 but i think ive got small hands met blokes bit bigger than me on my travels round england and there hands dwarfed mine, so would you say a bigger bloke might need say old style 30mm plus and a small guy 27-28 mm

                              don't believe you.

tell you what, send it to me to measure. i'll pay postage there and back plus run around the crucible naked in april if it's 25mm.

surely an offer you can't refuse.
