Hi karlos, was this cue new or used when you first had it?

Why i ask is , I havn't seen one without the sig, also this one don't seem to have a lacquered butt which is unusual for these and was wondering if it's poss been sanded back/refinished at some point?

          Looks like a bute BTW...

no the butt is definetly lacquered. I got it brand new i remember going into my club to buy it. My dad just said pick one from the cues that were for sale and that was the one that i i picked up and liked straight away i tried others before it but when i picked this up it just felt right. my quality camera is not good and its dark so had to put light facing right on it is probably why u cant see the lacquer. thanks for saying its a bute anyway

thanks mate. bit sad i know but its my prized possesion the one thing i wouldnt wana lose lol.i'd only sell or swap it for for the maple 1piece with the signature on. They are just rare to come by now though so doubt i would get that exact one. ive seen them in 2piece maple but not 1piece.

hi Karlos i know that in the later years of powerglide, may have been mid 90s the ownership changed hands and that some of the earlier models such as the connoisseur and purist were sold without the rex williams signature, as rex and his brother were part of the running of the company before the changeover this might account for the lack of signature on these later models. If you bought your cue in the 70s or 80s they always had this on them. The name is fairly well down below the lacquer and doesnt rub off easily, hope this helps.

Ahh right thankyou it solves the mystery. so it is the same cue just without the signature on. Also i noticed since looking very closely at the ones with the signature on the black part of the splicing on the butt is much thicker on them as well than the splicing on mine.

Do you have one in 1 piece maple with the signature on or know anyone that would be willing to sell or swap it with my one. Im not bothered what condition it is in as long as its playable with.

Sorry Karlos havent got one, just a 1 piece signature 25 year old purist model which was the next cue up the range from the connoisseur at the time, mind you a 1piece signature maple conny sold on ebay last nov for over £280 if i remember right so theyll not be cheap whenever they come up,good luck searching tho.

Yeah Karlos just looked at your pics of the cue and the ebony splicing looks very slim or minimal to say the least, the older ones ive seen the ebony was always much thicker and sometimes longer. Also ive seen pics of 3 connys together and the overall lengths of the splicings were different as was the colour of the rosewood splicing with some being dark brown to others being reddy orange. That said your cue looks in fantastic condition and the white ash is always a nice change to see rather than black grain filler, yep lovely cue!
