  • Ebony splitting at splices with shaft?!

    Hi guys,

I received my new cue at the beginning of January, but since it seems that the ebony is splitting where it is spliced to the ash shaft???
    Is this normal?
The cues has only been used for approx 30 hours and has always been properly stored and well looked after....
    Any ideas? Im gutted!

    Not normal at all
Maybe you can put a pic up to show us how bad it is.
Is it an option for you to take back to shop/maker to get it put right/replaced ???

Looks like a Mastercue joint ....yes ?
Could be the light but it looks like a huge dent
Have you whacked it on the table or something ???
If not dented then sorry, and if i was you i would be contacting whoever you got it from for a replacement

The lamp reflecting down in it does make it look like a dent, but its definitely not!! This was the only way I could show it!! Its split from 3 of the 4 splices.

Send it back I'm sure they will replace it, wont be good public relations if they dont.

not sure if its something stu would fix himself but a cue maker would do it easily.

I caused a very similar thing happen on one of my cues, after playing with the cue I put it back in the case with the damp towel that I wipe the cue down with, it was the first and last time I ever made this mistake, I not suggesting that that this is what has happened here just giving a heads up so no makes the same stupid mistake I did, JP did sort the cue out lucky for me.
