I got bought a used Mike Wooldridge that was within your budget from the forum and I like the way it plays. The best thing is the mini butt fits into the shaft of the cue and the butt which makes playing pool in cramped pubs easier ;-) I don't think the JP cues can do this! I also use it for snooker so bought a telescopic extension for the long shots. IMHO - if you want best of both go for a reverse butt jointed cue - check out this thread:

I can't recommend any specific cue, but hope this helps...Goodluck :-)

Hi Cameron,
I represent Cue Craft on the forum and am pleased to tell you that with your budget you'll be able to afford a Brand new top notch hand spliced cue made to your personal specifications, including a mini-butt AND a long extension and probably a new case as well!
Email your specs to me cueist@genie.co.uk and I'll get you a quote.
I need to know:-
Overall cue length?-e.g. 57" is pretty standard, but can go longer if required.
Tip size? Would recommend 9mm for use with pool and snooker.
Jointing? (3/4 if you want a female jointed shaft for inserting mini-butt)
Overall Cue Weight?
Woods for butt and shaft e.g. Ebony butt / Ash Shaft, Rosewood Butt / Maple shaft etc?
Any coloured veneers on the butt?
You can also do this by phone or text to 07740102927.
With the issue of tight shot's if you want the cue for pool as well, I'd definitely recommend a 3/4 cue with mini-butt to fit on the shaft as well as a butt joint for snooker.

in my view the best cue ive played with is a john parris but you will proberly have to buy a second hand john parris with that budget and spend the whole 300 and take the risk of not liking the cue. so you should proberly go for a less expensive cue that you wont lose money on e.g mastercue, mastercraft, omin, craftsman cues etc best of luck with your purchase
