Like I said he did say the cue was shabby. I don't know why my friend payed that kind of money for a cue that the seller said was shabby.

Thats what i think, at the end of the day nobody made your friend part with his cash. Do you know tho whether he offered £100, or the seller asked for £100

What did the seller do wrong?
Well he has'nt done any thing since and regardless he sold a piece of **** for £100 pounds, maybe he does know someting about cues and sold it not really giving two f####

So in actual fact the exact opposite is true in this case i.e. the new seller with a small number of posts with completely open and honest about the condition of the cue.

I'm all for buyer beware etc. but I think this is the worst example possible you could have picked to try and illustrate a point that in this case is clearly untrue.

I don't know if he offered that amount or that was the price quoted. Saying the cue is shabby could mean that it needs refinshing
thats a lot different from saying the cues butt has been sanded down to around 24mm and is no more than fire wood.

I don't agree with you, I wouldn't say he's been open and honest at all.

Also if you get offered more money than you yourself believe the cue is worth, your not the one at fault if you accept it, It could be the buyer just cant get one from anywhere else so is willing to pay a bit more just to get it. So in this case caz im afraid your friend didnt do his homework correctly, but i would still like to know if he offered £100 or was asked for it........it makes a big difference

Lol caz......you cant get anymore honest than he was man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the only thing i would hold against him is if it was him who asked for £100 (knowing full well that i had already told him £50 for a good condition one was about right)

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Going on the photos and the description I wouldn't have gone near that cue with a barge pole. I have no problem with people selling poor cues if they are clearly described as a poor cue, and in this case I see nothing wrong on the seller's part.

Lets turn it around as your all so keen to defend this bloke, If he was selling a cue tomorrow and knowing what you now know would you buy a cue from him.

If it was in very good condition and was the spec of cue I was after then I would have no problem buying from him, assuming he could answer the very long list of questions I would ask him, the same list of questions I would ask anyone else before I bought a cue from them.

And I'm not keen to defend him as such, just pointing out that you choose a VERY poor example to illustrate your point of "beware buying cues from new members" as in this case his description of the cue was 100% spot on.

I never saw the photos, I have to admit that the pictures speak a thousand words and it'smy mate thats at fault. from the pictures you can clearly see that from the middle of the cue it is almost straight. I think 24 mm might be to thick, could be around 22mm

i personally wouldn't part 100 quid for a cue described as shabby condition, unless i saw it first and decided after re furb costs it was worth that price. paying 100 quid for a cue described as shabby without seeing it is madness....

I think its fair to say that when you have parted the kind of money your friend has and end up with a cue like that then its no wonder you'd be slightly bitter to say the least.

However I really can't say that the seller has done anything wrong really. He called the cue shabby which is an invitation to knock the price down as well as be as quizative about the condition as possible before settling on a price. Sorry but your mate has had to learn a lesson the hard way. Whenever anyone is selling stuff you really need to know what you are buying and the seller gave as much info as he could as well as providing pics. Some people completely overlook things like butt diameter and its only when the question is raised would someone answer.
