Hiya ACro, only every so slightly... I've used masking tape to protect the wood from scratches.

In all the time I've had this cue.. In tourneys and events, even a late night money match.. It's never come to any harm. I'm anal like that and prefer to look after my gear. These calipers have a very sharp edge to them and have scratched the butt just by resting on the edge...... lol. It's always good to care about your stuff

In the original thread I had pictures just like that.. but I was advised the best measurement would be towards the end of the cue exc. the flat... so... idk
