  • John parris Classic cue

I am planning to buy a John Parris classic cue.
I heard a few things about Parris cues that their quality of the standard range cues is not the same as it used to be,so I was a bit unsure about it.
Most importantly I would be ordering online so I won't be able to try out any cues before buying.
Has someone recently bought any standard range Parris cue?
Can someone throw some light into this matter.

I had an 20 year old JP Exclusuve which was a great cue but only had 8.5mm tip. I ordered a Regal but wasn't to pleased with it so sold it and got a Trevor White, great cue.

When I went to the shop he had a few cues but I have to say most of them had ugly shafts.
Try and find someone close to you who is selling one or buy one of here and hopefully the member will be truthful about how the cue looks and feels & plays
Also they can send you pictures.

Thats what I am also worried about that, the shaft which might not be upto the mark.
I would better of buying it from e-bay or if someone on here is selling one.

      Thanks for your reply!

i just bought a john parris champion cue that is about 8-10 years old and it is a lovely cue and the grain is as straight as an arrow and very solid so it doesnt have that whippy effect that some cues have. i bought a john parris supreme cue from john last year and it is a nice cue but the grain turns a bit and on the old cues there mostly all straight which is because it was better wood back then. so it might be worth it buying an older john parris cue on here if you like a good shaft but some people want more money for them rather than buying them brand new but in my opinion the older cues feel and play better.

Yes some of the Old Cues are better than the New Parris Cues as most of the New Cues are Not made by John Himself as many years ago it was John who made 99% of his Cues.

If you Order a Top Spec Parris Cue... Ultimate etc then Maybe he would make it but for Lower Price Range....You would be Better Buying a Good 2nd Hand Old Parris Cue which was Proberly made by him.

Please send me Specs of the Cue your after and I may have one available to suit you.

i really cant see why anyone would want to take a gamble on a new standard range parris cue when trevor white is a lot cheaper, he makes the cues himself and they are always good cues.

I heard that TW basic cue has gone up in price, I've been told now that a plain ebony ash cue start at around £380 still worth the money.

Seriously?? I emailed trevor on sunday asking for a quote on a maple shafted cue witha front splice and thick veneer, built as a 1 pc then jointed and he gave me a price that was cheaper than that. surely a maple shaft woudnt be considerably cheaper? Would it?

That's a £100 price increase, surely not!!! But still worth buying as there's only one Trevor White...

A few cue makers have recently put their prices up by around £20 on average, Craftsman just have, a plain 1 piece up from £145 to £167, seems quite a steep increase IMO. Maybe the price of materials has seen a big increase and they have to pass on the price to the customer, either way I doubt the cue makers are going to be as busy as prices continue to rise in this country.
