  • Is this a genuine Hunt & O'byrne?

Hi Guys, have a question for those Hunt and O'byrne cue experts out there re: this green plate on ebay atm. Is this genuine? Does that look like a Parris join? Link below.
    Thanks everyone

600g = slightly over 21 oz, so a heavy cue too, butt end looks rough...i wonder if a leather pad has come adrift or something ?? (i think its a Parris joint too)

The first class workmanship of Bob Akers is deserving of better than this throwaway remark. In the early days his joints were in clear perspex and very well made. I cant. speak with authority about the materiels in his recent work but am sure it is first class and most unlikely to be plastic. As far as this cue is concerned I would doubt its authenticity though if made to a customers spec. probably at a low trade rate if given as a prize I suppose it could be by Will Hunt/O,byrne.

I read somewhere the bobs workshop was badly damaged by a fire in a neighbouring building

Bob's workshop wasn't damaged. His neighbour has an electrical fire in his loft and it swept into Bob's loft totally destroying the roof of his house.
Bob has moved into a rented apartment and is unfortunately not doing any repair work for the next few months.

Having owned several Hunts and Robert Osbornes, i can tell for sure this is not either. The joint is not the same and the base joint isnt either.
