  • Refinishing/Sanding A Shaft

I have found some small dints or inperfections in the shaft of my Tony Glover cue and just wondering what the best way is to remove these as i dont want to go ahead and just sand the cue and ruin as in past i have seen people that sand there shafts and it takes all the grain out and i feel that the shaft of my cue has a very good grain and i dont want to ruin this any ideas or comments would be appreciated on how to do this.

    Thanks Matt

    My suggestion.....

You had the cue for a nice price, so spend a couple of quid and treat it to a nice re-finish, SEND it to a cue doctor/maker and have it coming back like new...

    Don't cost alot...

(maybe send it back to tony and have him change the badge at same time)...

often these can be swelled out with little balls of wet tissue, just stick them on top of the dents and leave over night, it may take two goes if they are deep.
Some just pop right out without having to do anything further. If it bumps up a bit you can buff down the spot with 2000 grit and polish with a bit of cue wax.

I agree, for £20-£30 you have a brand new cue. Don't muck about with it yourself, especially taking sand paper to it if you don't know what you're doing.
