just bought 1 on ebay to go with 1 ive got,anybody got anymore info on them, think there about 100 yrs old

""They were established as billiard table makers in 1891 and my last
reference to them comes in 1922. How long they traded after this is
speculation, but I would guess that it wasn't long. They seem to have
existed in Brewer Street, London, for their entire trading life,
although they did move up and down the street a bit.

I don't know the address at which they began trading but from at least
1903 to 1912 I can confirm by contemporary adverts they were at 19
Brewer Street, They then move to 7 Brewer Street some time between
1912 and 1917. They were still at this address in 1922.

I have seen some cues with 19 Brewer Street on them, if yours is the
same you can say it it likely to date from just before the first world

"There's not much additional information I have on this company other
than the full name of the principal was Frederick John Cowderoy, who
was living in Wandsworth in 1907 (which is when he filed a patent for
"improved chalk holders." I think, but am not sure, that he died in
1936 when an obituary appears in The Times for a Frederick Cowderoy,
aged 74, who was described as a "retired Company Director." This would
tie in with the date of founding of the firm (this person would have
been 29) and that the company ceased trading shortly after 1922.

The war finished off a lot of companies, so this would not be
particularly surprising.

I have seen the occasional set of ivory billiard balls by this
company, who seem to have expanded into ball turning in 1907 when they
started to advertise an expanded range of service along with an
extended address of 18-19 Brewer Street. This seems to have been the
peak of their activities, so statistically the most likely date for
surviving artefacts would be 1907-1914."

arthur cowderoy was a clerk for a billiard table makes in 1891,george bland was a billiard table salesman in 1891 for same company ,they must have got together between1891 and 1901 as both are listed as billiard table makers in 1901
