  • Will being blind in one eye affect my game??

Sorry this is in the wrong section but I didn't know where to put it and this has the most viewers.

I've been playing for over a year and I'm blind in my right eye so I don't have depth perception or hand eye coordination etc. My left eyes vision is 20/20 but will this affect my play?

There's a guy in my local league with one eye. He's not a bad player at all, drew my last match with him.

The most important thing though is that you enjoy playing. That's all that matters isn't it?
Oh, and that's a bad miss.

I'll be the first to admit it makes the game a lot more enjoyable when I'm winning and it would upset me if I had a disadvantage like this!

All you can do is be the best that you possibly can. That's the same for all of us.

When I first started to play, one of the best in our area only had one eye. Even when in his sixties, he was still quite a good player. Alas, he is no longer wirh us.

one of my team mates has one eye and he is a fairly good player so i would have to say that no it does not affect your game to much.
our last league tournament with over 80 players entered, Fred made it to the semi finals the rest of our team got pumped out long before then lol

A friend of mine plays pool in the Premier division of the Afford Pool League in my area.He plays against players such as Lee Kendall ( England captain, professional player),Gareth Potts (multi world champion and professional player) Adam Davies (pro)Daz Lightfoot (county A player) and the list could go on all night. My friend has a glass eye,he to has problems with depth perception and co-ordination, but he still competes and competes effectively. The body is a wonderful machine and can compensate for almost anything.Dont worry, enjoy your game.

Nic Barrow has said to me that it can be a huge advantage than a disadvantage, yes you have the depth perception problem which can effect your cueing in the aspect of how far away the cue tip is actually away from the cue ball.

And another team mate ( ME!!) has almost no sight in my right eye. Probably explains why I miss so much. lol.
Seriously I've always just used the one eye so I don't know what it would be like to sight with two eyes. Are binoculers better than a telescope?

My sister is blind in one eye and she regularly beats me and a good few others at pool. Good luck and as others have said enjoy your game.
