  • New Cue Wanted (upped my budget)

Hi i was recently looking for a new cue with a very low budget of £100, well i have now decided yo up it, althought it may not be a mega ammount still i am willing to spend up to £250, anyway what i wanted to know is how good are craftsman cues, my friend has one and he got a very nice hand spliced cue to his specifications with a leather case mini butt and telescopic extender all for £235 and with this been in my budget and to get everything i need is it worth getting a craftsman, thanks

Quite honestly you can't get a better cue for the money, certainly not a cue hand made here in England anyway. People will mention Mastercue and Greenbaize but for me Craftsman can make just as good a cue with the bonus of it being made exactly to your spec. You see very few Craftsman cues for sale because most people like them which the same thing can't be said of the other two which are often for sale not only on Ebay but in the sale section on this site too.

    Go for it!

thats great cheers, yea i was looking on the website but not much on there so i emailed them and they said come down to the shop and have a look as they have a much larger selection in store plus there is that many to choose from you can test them out on their table which is a bonus, my friend said he was in there 3 hours picking his cue, and i must say by the way he plays must have been the best 3 hours he as ever spent, thanks for the info

Craftsman indeed do have practice tables, one English pool and one snooker. If you are visiting the shop I would recommend a visit during the week, weekends can be busy as you get can get a lot of people " trying " cues. There are probably over 100 cues ,pool (English and American) and snooker on display ,on 3 walls around the tables, including a small rack of vintage ( but playable) cues, for we older players to try out.As long as you are respectful the shop doesnt seem to mind how long you take at the tables.I think they would rather have a happy customer any day of the week ( repeat orders ,word of mouth reputation is everything in these difficult economic times).Dave and Simon are both very knowledgeable and customer orientated. They can make any cue to your exact specifications and will advise against "too radical" a design if necessary.Check the forum for feedback,no surprises, its mostly positive.I should point out that I have no connection with the shop,I and my friends that use Craftsman are just more satisfied customers.

thanks for the info, i have been playing a while now and always seem to buy these cheap machine made cues, and the ammount i have had i could have had a right expensive cue by now, so i thought f**k it im gonna get a decent cue that will last me well hopefully the last cue i will need to buy

I personaly have two Craftsman cues and I have to say I'm fully satisfied by what I got for the money I spent. OK, I'm looking for a new one now, but this has more to do with specs than quality lol

I have a classic Panther and a more original Dominator. There are nicely made and play well.

Plus, Dave and Simon are very nice blokes, very helpfull. If you leave close by, I really advise you to go to the shop and see by yourself. I'm absolutely sure you'll find a good cue in your spending range.

                Good luck!

For this budget, also have a look at www.mastercraft-cues.co.uk, not just the stock cues but you could get a custom cue.
