I see the thread titled..... "Trevor White - John Parris" has now been deleted, and as much as I don't want to go over it all again, I want to make something clear.
I have spoken to the OP via email about the issues surrounding this thread, and although he is still unwilling to confirm the dealer in question, I think I have a good idea what is going on here. I may well be wrong with who the dealer is, but if not, I am pretty confident that the cues being sold are not new, and I know for certain they did not come directly from me. This is not the first time I've head of things like this, whereby a used cue is refinished and sold as new, simply to enable someone to increase their profit on it. It isn't right, but there's not a lot I, or anyone else can do to stop that sadly.
If I am right with where I think these cues were viewed, then I know for a fact that one of the cues was sold to someone I know fairly well, only a few months ago. This cue was actually sold as a very slight second, due to the fact that it had a small defect to the grain in the front splice. This could have been respliced, and sold on as perfect, but the person in question decided to take it as it was, at a price reduced by well over £100 below what it would cost to have such a cue built. He was happy with the deal, and I was happy enough to let him have it cheap. Sadly, it appears now that this cue has ended up at a dealers shop, where it is being sold as new. I have no idea who told who it was new, so don't really want to start pointing fingers. But, it's fair to say that it's disappointing to see that this has been, or is trying to be, passed off as a brand new unused perfect cue, when it is anything but that. To me, it creates the impression for a potential buyer that this is what a perfect brand new cue built by me would be like, when in reality is is not.
I can't comment on any other cues this shop has for sale which I may have made, or what of prices they are being sold for, I have not seen them, but again, I'd be doubtful whether they are 'new', and in any case, they certainly did NOT come directly from me.
Finally, my advice to anyone considering buying anything which bares my name is to ask me. That way you will get nothing but an accurate honest answer.
