The "pattern" statement from " cueinhand" is a little unfair, true but unfair.Jason has only completed six cues and his stated intent was to perfect one piece ,single splice cues first, before attempting 3/4 cues or multi-splice patterns.I think his first cues have acheived his stated intent.Well done Jason.I have asked Jason to reserve cue No27 for myself, the pattern will be of a four secondary splice design, like Dean I cant wait to see the results, but I also am prepared to wait the necessary time frame that it will take Jason before he is confident enough to try secondary splicing.Keep up the good work,Jason and please keep posting your results for The Forum to see in all their glory.

I have only had 1 reject cue where the tips of the splices were uneven by 20mm.
I still havent got the the bottom of the splice fingers even yet, thats definitely the hardest bit. Think i just have to get my square perfectly square, Airin will know what I mean lol.

Oldschool, done 8 completed cues now.
Next cue im doing is a Burwat Champion replica.
Will be a touch thin as its been ordered as a 29mm/8mm taper but will hopefully look good.
Dont think doing 4 splices would be too hard now, its just I have quite a few cues to make for people that are all 1 piece with a single front splice. The wood and consumables cost a fair bit so have to go with what people will pay for at the moment and then once I have some free time I will experiment with 4 lower splices.

no jason as we are learning its not easy at all you learn something on every cue you attempt,i have turned out more firewood because i want to be different (a bit like dan ) and do mess up loads,,i think if i set my stall out to do as you have done and start at the beginning as such(and i should have done)i would have been better quicker if you can understand that logic but i kinda wanted to run befor i could walk if you know what i mean will get wood for my 007 as soon as you think your ready for a mannock rep sorry if ive messed you about

Apologies , Jason, I was going on cues "sold" I thought that you still had some in the finishing stage i.e. oiling. Still my point to " cueinhand" was valid. You are still in a learning phase of cue making, although results are quite frankly stunning. Please take your time,I am in no rush for a four point butt just yet,I would rather you get the confidence to take this job on first.I must admit that your progress has been remarkable,in that we initially thought 8-12 months before you got to this stage, amazing when you think how far you have come since March/April.Keep it up.

ones as u mention is the wood surfaces were not planed square to the adjacent sides and two the wood surface on the shaft were not planed at the same angle before splicing

Saw this on FB yesterday. Very nice. Starting to experiment with double face splices. Having seen your love for Cocobolo, I guess there will be a double of that coming soon?
They seem to be (as difficult as it sounds) be getting better everytime, which considering this is 012, and there are still a few you haven't released pics of yet, the standard of them is awesome! I think you have found your niche here bud!If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!

Lovely looking cue that jason bud.
The thing that i notice/get drawn to when ppl post pics of cues by different makers etc..is the way they 'sit' the badge and the shape of the butt end, i dunno why but i always check what the butt/badge are like first off, just get drawn to that part for some reason, some makers get it all wrong IMO but good to see you have a very nice shaped butt fella and a well placed badge to boot.....
Can't stand the 'flatter' edged butt ends some makers do, and some also sit the badge way too high for my liking, puts me right off the 'look'...
Just don't look right, (but you know that don't ya) theres a few that do it, don't they realise it looks awful.
Anyways...
Excellent stuff buddy...

This person wanted a Padauk front splice. I didnt want to just repeat a cue that ive made before so added the extra front splice.
Got some more nice variations on the front splice that I want to do and will start looking at 4 lower splices soon.

that and laziness. a simple planed edge is easier than hand sanding a shape to it.
same applies to those awful 'deep' cut splices leaving short stubby sh*tty little splice points. why would anyone think they look nice?
