I just ordered 5 Kamui Black MH 11mm from Stu at Greenbaize and he tells me he will send them Tuesday as it's a bank holiday today. Very good response as I received from Coutts 5 mediums when I had ordered the medium hards although I have to say the medium Kamui Black plays very well. I tap it down with a hammer just before I finish the final shaping and have had no problems so far

I bought 1 kamui med 11mm on ebay from snookercues4u with the "pencil sharpner" shaper. Just fitted it to my cue the now. Very pleased with the way it looks. I did an amazing job fitting it, even if I may say so myself! (Beginners fitting tip - practice with cheap elkamsters on an old cue, I bought one in oxfam for 3 quid and used that!). Sanding it down to shape was a job and a half. I used the peradon tip shaper to start with then for fine tuning I moved on to a very fine sanding block I got from b&q. The sanding block works great as long as you us a curving action from top to bottom. The supplied tip shaper does an excelent job! Im so chuffed with the job I am not chalking it up til I go play so I can just sit and admire it!

I'm currently using a Black Kamui medium tip. The Kamui medium is quite soft for a layered tip and was expecting to be as hard as a Talisman soft, but feels more like an Elk... The Kamui plays well but it gets worn down too quickly and I wouldn't say it holds chalk better than the Talisman. I've also tried the Aurora layered tip and would say its a better tip than the Kamui medium, there is more feedback and it lasts longer. I wonder how the Kamui medium/hard tip compares to the medium version?

Try the Phoenix black laminated 11mm tips, ive noticed from your posts you like to experiment with new things. I used to use the Talisman 11mm soft, imo the Phoenix ones are better. This is the first one ive used, they do 2 different types, soft and medium.

I think the one that came on my new Phoenix cue is a medium (not certain but it feels a firm hit), they hold the chalk really well and ive noticed you don't have to chalk as often because of this, the strike of the ball feels firm and positive and they give you a lot of confidence.

Yeh ive been very impressed by the Phoenix black laminated 11mm tips as well, i was suprised at how little you have to chalk them as they hold the chalk really well, i like the firm hit, they feel positive and very grippy.

I prefer them to the talisman tips, they just feel a better hit and hold the chalk better.

How do the Phoeninx compare with the Kamui in terms of hardness?
Looking for something like the Kamui M which i have on atm but supply/cost of the Kamui's is not great.

                      Cheers

I currently use a Kamui Medium Black and am extremely happy. Was going to try a Phoenix, but I think it will be an Aurora next which appears to be like a Kamui Black with less laminates and hence less glue. I think it was the glue factor that spoiled the Talisman for me.

For those of you considering Phoenix tips just to let you know that my team mate has had three of the soft tips delaminate after a few hours use and i had one delaminate after two hours use . Used the medium for a few months with no problem at all which makes me think that there is a problem with the soft . I will not buy another until they sort it out .

Pity as they felt nice when they lasted .

Same as bud, I had one delaminate on me about a month ago...... So I decided to go back to MW supertips!!

I thought this might have been a one off but if your mate has had 3 delaminate on him there could well be a problem with them.......

I didn't want to comment on kamui tips until I had tried more than one.
The first Kamui (black M) tip I tried lasted just over 4 months of daily play before it had worn down and got a bit too hard. That's very good for me as I have always had a lot of trouble getting the right tip and they last 2-3 months . Usually have to try several and one time 6 before success. Anyway I replaced it with another just before Xmas and after 2 hours play I just forgot about it and played.
                              Wonderful.
If they go on like this thats 3 tips a year with no worry about changing it a few days before a comp.
Well worth the money, I only play billiards and it's important to be able to get a lot of side on at very low speed and these tips are as good as anything I have had on before.
Just one bit of advice, they need the surface loosened each time you play or half way through a long session. Just press a sharp file on the edge (45 degrees) and rotate it slightly. DON'T rub the tip at all with the file or you will reduce it's life just move it round the tip loosening the fibres and it will take the chalk well.
On another point, don't put too much chalk on or if you do tap the shaft on the cush rail with the tip away from the cloth. Like Alex Higgins used to do, you will get very little chalk on the table which will reduce kicks, look better and be less work when you have to clean and brush it.

PS Can't teach stun run?? nonsense

So why not get a laminated tip that doesn't delaminate? Even a MW laminated if that's your preference? Far superior to an ordinary supertip which is just a good Elk.
