Hi, was thinking of getting a new cue, for english 8ball. not sure what the best cues for 8ball are? i have a 1 pc traditional cue for snooker. but not sure if parris cues are best for pool?thanks

hey i play pool and used to use a small tip but gordie pool of england are good i have just got a robin cook cue now but got a 8.5 tip where abouts do u play

You could always use your JP traditional for pool?

Unless you want a shorter cue and/or smaller tip for pool then I see no reason why you cannot use the cue for both.

ADR 147 had some 1 piece and 3/4 English made pool spec cues for sale recently.The one piece I had from him ( as a backup) is 57.25 long , 8mm tip and 14 / 14.50 ozs.Perfect English pool spec.I know it was not a " big name " brand but is ideal ,until you settle on your perfect spec.

I would second this I got a 3/4 cue from Andrew and use it all the time - a good price as well.

go to geordie pool of england web site thats where i got my old 1 and i loved it and sold it to my brother there tis are 8.5 and thats what i use now as well i used to use a 9mm let me no how u get on with the wbsite

If you are in Yorkshire visit Craftsmans at Kippax.Plenty to choose from and two tables to trial a cue on.If you find one you like and its not quite exactly your spec,Dave can alter it easily enough or build a custom one.Craftsman were advertising pool spec,handmade cues recently on e-bay and their own website.Regarding tip size,technique is more important.A lot of players use tips between 8mm and 9mm but their are exceptions.I know someone who plays with a 10mm and he can do anything he wants with the cue ball,but technically he is ahead of most players I know and his timing is spot on.I also know players who have come down from 9mm to 8mm and are miss-cueing all over the place.Horses for courses,sound technique and a tip that feels right to you is far better than following a "trend" or listening to the wrong people any day of the week.Tip sizes have been the subject of many discussions on this forum,if you do a search you will get a lot of sound advice.
