  • beginner: buying a cue online without testing it

hey guys, just started snooker coaching lessons and i'm fairly content with the cue that my coach lets me use which is standard weight and 9.5mm tip.

i understand that it's best that i stick to one cue to practice with, instead of the rack cues from the local rileys (which could well be warped, and they're different each time).

is it ok if i get a cheap one off some online store that matches the description of the cue that i'm using from my coach? he won't let me take it home with me, and says that i should get my own which is fair enough cos that cue is used by his other pupils as well.

it's 'okay' comfortable, but i'm quite new to snooker so it really doesn't make that big a difference to me.

You may struggle to get a hand spliced cue and case for this but you never know your luck.

If not then you should be able to get a machine spliced one. ADR will prob have just the thing for you.

anything wrong with machine spliced? what about one of those cheap peradon 2 piece cues? e.g. http://www.topcue.co.uk/snooker/prod...free-hard-case

it all depends how often you intend to play if its an hour every few weeks then a cheap cue is fine i guess, if you want to play often and welll i would be looking to spend a bit more. best i would have near your price would be a handspliced cue in case with extension for £150 delivered.
