Hi, I'm looking at buying a new cue and would like to know if anyone has any experience of these two sellers:

    Qheaven
    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/QHEAVEN

They sell mainly Waslin cues for £30-50 including a case

    Snooker Loopy
    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/SNOOKER-LOOPY-STORE

They sell mainly "Pro Cues" for about the same price range but without a case.

They both seem to always receive good feedback, but it would be great to hear from anyone who has bought a cue from them recently.

    Thanks,
    Adrian

I haven't seen them personally but with all cues, you get what you pay for. Some of these go for 10-20 pounds and probably originate from the far east. In my experience, the best cues for less than 100 pounds are Mastercue.

I've spent the last three weeks sampling cues in Thailand and found out some interesting things - I would go as far as saying that I reckon 90% of cues now distributed in the UK are made in Thailand...and why? - Simply because the Thai's are good at making them, the materials are the best available and they're far cheaper to manufacture there.

      Great Information Max!

I thought only Master cues were made in Thailand.

Are you by any chance a bass player in a metal band, Adrian Jackson?

all the cues you mention are junk from china - snooker loopy is the player matt couch and he is now driving a ferrari and he did not earn that on the tour! as maximum break says the thai cues are very good look for o'min or mastercue. or contact craftsmans cues in leeds who stock all sorts or better still save up and buy a cue from me!

Well I decided to take a chance and try one of the cues from Snooker Loopy. I picked up this one for just £17 and am really happy with it!

              Snooker Loopy Cue

I'm a reasonable player, regularly knocking in 30s and 40s with the occasional 50 or 60. This cue is certainly better than the one I've had for the last 10 years or so. I've started playing snooker a lot more now and I'd be happy to spend more on a cue in a few months time if it would help me to improve.

I know it's a difficult question to answer, but what difference would a top quality cue make to a player like me?

well at that money its fine! its just not worth the £150 buy it now he wants!! a top quality cue should in theory allow you to get the exact same result every time, ie it should be predictable and you learn to trust it, it should also have been made slowly so that any stresses in the wood have had a chance to settle meaning it will stay straight and true. in truth, will it make a difference to your game, i can't say but there is a reason why 90% of top players uses handmade cues.

                    first reason it's cost more
                    second it's reputation
and none of the modern player are an expert for snooker cue
                    (the can have some knowledge)
                    it's just another job

there is some advantage doing same cue, and use same technology
but it's could cost less with no reputation, but better technology
i guess the best way to know it's to try....(i like heavy cue and by the way i need a recommendation for 9 m"m cue tip)

if it's cost more it's never could be bad.... if it's cost less you can never tell.....

I own BilliardsBoutique.com the website in the ad above.

I get slightly annoyed with peopl on eBay but you cannot compete if you sell decent stuff. I get people ringing up all the time asking for huge discounts just because they have seen a similar cue on eBay.

I now have a company policy that I will only sell English Made snooker cues (except one brand - Cannon which are made in China - but they are cheap and you get what you pay for) There are so many people knocking out cheap alternatives that I think it needs someone to make a stand!!!!

Bobby Valentino - I recommend 9mm Blue Diamonds, never had anything better on my snooker cue!

i agree - people like matt couch have killed it by selling at a loss on the grounds that it does not matter if they lose on 20% as long as they make on the rest. when ebay first started i sold mastercues etc on there at full retail price and then the bedroom traders started and now its near impossible to make a profit on anything!

The trouble is that people that buy on eBay (generally speaking) don't care what they are getting. I had considered getting some cues knocked out in China myself but thought why because everyone else is doing it.

I will now only sell quality, or what I believe is quality, I am also looking to develop my brands but will only stock English made.

I am glad that someone else agrees with me though ADR147
