1 piece or 3/4 cue, whats best in your opinion?

Does anyone really know the answer to this post? It's a bit like other posts who ask "Who makes the best cues?". There's too many variables and exceptions to the rule. I've just ordered up a one-piece cos I've developed a phobia of joints! Just me being daft!! I've heard that a one-piece is more likely to warp? Maybe true maybe not. At the end of the day I just want a nice cue that I feel comfortable with.

Hard to say there is a definitive answer to the question. All I will say is when you look at the most successful players in the game, both in the past and currently and the vast majority use/d a 1 piece cue. For me that says a hell of a lot that players that have the opportunity to try out every kind of cue possible and the very top players choose a 1 piece.

I use a 1 piece so naturally am going to say they are the best. For me the main thing is feel and control which I don't get the same feeling in a jointed cue.
As for the warping thing well thats total nonsense IMO. Any cue can warp doesn't matter whether its a 3/4 or 1 piece or even a 2 piece centre split. If looked after most cues shouldn't move that much that they will become unplayable, a lot of cues will move over time but probably only a few mm at most, not enough to be noticed when playing but some like the cue to be arrow straight. My cue is bent slightly, maybe 2 mm but I can still play all the shots I need with it and doesn't affect my accuracy, and believe it or not a lot of pros cues will be bent too, notice Shaun Murphy next time he plays and you will see what I mean!

What about durability? My uneducated guess is that onepiece may last longer than 3/4 piece due to the absence of joints..

Loose joint is a problem for joined cue but it can be fixed and won't affect it's life.

Can anyone correct me if i am wrong, because of the brass joint comparing to a one piece cue the balance point of 3/4 cues are slightly away from the butt, i.e. slightly forwardly balanced.

And a question
according do John Parris "a well fitted 3/4 cue will play as good as a one piece cue"
arent there any pros at all who use 3/4 cues?

This is a personal preference thing.

Mnay pros play with one pieces but many with 3/4 as well.

My opinion a one piece cue is all you ever need and the feel is much better but 3/4 still works as if it didnt then everybody would use a one piece.

if i am travelling back and forth USA quite often then i am better off with a 3/4 isnt it? as it adds a bit of convinience and less prone to damage during a flight.

Convience is normally to do with a one piece cue doesnt fit in the boot of the car.

I aint sure about the baggage on a flight lol. Check with the airline regarding sizes and different costs.

Just make sure the case you use is solid, alu cases would be good. You dont want a hendry incident.

In your position, I would concentrate on getting cue cue which feels right for you and that you can play well with. If that be a 3/4, 1 piece or whatever, Just make sures its right for you.

Ive never noticed any real difference using 1 piece or 3/4. I think it's mainly in people's minds as to how they play and any differences noticed.
