  • Cue valuation?

Ive been offered the opportunity to pick up an old Joe Davis cue. Its a 114 2501 break cue (handpspliced ebony with what looks like maple splice). Good condition, nice and straight. Brass 10mm ferrule so im guessing its been redone at some point? My question is what is this cue approximately worth?

Without seeing any pics of the cue i would guess that the cue would be worth £150 to £180.

I agree you have to be able to play with the cue if so then its worth whatever you want to pay for it... Some people can play with any cue and it doesn't matter but when you really find the 1 thats perfect and holds special powers then grab it and don't let go.... Joe davis cues vary so much in price. Look at ebay they range from £40 to £150 tops but i personaly think they should be worth double for a good example. There isn't alot of money in old cues at the momment which is a shame. Its because john parris, trever white etc etc etc are the money cues at the momment. For me it would be an old 1 piece anytime... Joe davis, Burroughes & watts, peradon, or an old portraight badged cue, peal, reece etc etc etc. Sorry for going on...

the length will be a factor in the price.

I have bought 3 or 4 of these cues in the past all good condition but not mint full length 58 inch and never paid more than £120 for one, that said I sold each for between £150 - £200
Just because its old, doesn't mean its worth a fortune!!

then should be around 150-180. most important with these is 58" long because they are not that rare cut down versions take a big hit.
