Firefrets was or still is a member here , and he was selling those tips a while ago . These tips are rare from what i,ve read and they were the ones that Joe Davis used when he had his 147 .

Yeah I remember the threads and I think he got banned. I was just wondering others thoughts on the price he is asking for etc etc.

The tips cant be worth the money he is asking for.

I actually bought some of these tips off ebay (different seller) when firefrets posts were on here but I paid no where near what he wanted for them.

I have tried the tips and they are okay to play with but far from the best. Very difficult to scuff tip.

If anyone else wants some of these to collect, try etc. you can have them for £1.50 each.

      They are black base.

Do u think the photo his claims is his cue is actually a talisman?

Doesnt look much like the baldock tips from his photos or from the ones I have right in front of me.

No there not, if you look at his listing, he makes reference to a tip he has fitted which he claims to be a baldock even though it looks like a talisman or a another laminated tip.

            What you think it is?

I can certainly see a different shade between the top of the tip and the base but it still doesnt look anything like the baldock tips I have in front of me.

Maybe the photo is deceiving me due to the darkness of the top end of the tip.

You can't go with colours in photos online, so many variables e.g. the camera, post processing, your screen etc.

It definitely looks like a Baldock Black Base to me, which is what he says it is in his ad. Just because he's insane doesn't mean he's lying!!

This is what I was getting at.

Joe Davis did not have much options in his time.
Nowadays, it is a different story.
These kind fo remind me of the French Champion tips.

What does the colour of the base mean? Does it denote the hardness or something like that?

The Snooker shop in Levenshulme near Stockport still sell them for pennies. They are generally not good tips and were quickly replaced by Blue Diamond and Elkmaster years ago. There was a similar tip to the Baldock called a Soft French which were pretty good tips but they disappeared about 30 years ago. They had a thin base and not as deep as the Baldock, they kept their shape but didn't last long.
