The front splice is Leadwood and the veneer is Satinwood.

This is the first time I hear about this leadwood, I suppose this is the wood used on the 1st edition BC cues rite? It looks so close to Rosewood to me.

I am hoping to have a better grip on the butt cos I have sweaty hands, what particular wood/woods will leave a coarser surface after finished, pls?

          The specs are -
          Length - 58 inches
          Weight - Just under 19oz
          Butt - 29mm
          Ferrule - 8mm
          Balance point - 16 inches
          Taper at 12" - 14.2mm

Ive tried to keep the taper nice but also not to thin to keep it stiff enough. As you can imagine an 8mm tip is a thin bit of wood.
It feels good and will play 8 ball nicely.

The butt was going to be 28mm but I felt it would look too wrong and the badge wouldnt sit properly. It would also mean the lettering wouldve been very close onsce the badge was fitted to a smaller diameter. Ive kept the taper a little thicker over the splices to give the splices a 'fatter chunkier' look in the way the older cues with fat butts looked.

I think you made all the right choices regarding butt diameter and diameter over the splices.Great looking cue and the application of knowledge pertaining to older cues in relation to and applied to (to make it work) new cues, shows us your passion to get it "right".Keep going and thanks for sharing.
