  • tall players/standard cue

just wondering if any tall players on the forum play comfortably and half decent snooker with standard length (57-58") cues?

I am 6.3 (and 44), used 58 untill about 7 years ago when I went to 59, and two years ago 60, would'nt go any more though as I feel that the 60 allows me stretch out my bridge arm more consistently and confidence has followed with more pots going in. The bottom line is what you feel generates the results!

thanks for the reply's. players who are comfortable with more standard length cues have alot more buying option. i feel like i've played the last few years with cues because of there length rather than how i find them to play with

I am 6 3" and I am using 59" cue. I have used 58" but it felt a touch too short and I always thought that my backswing is not long enough. After I changed to longer cue my game started to improve significantly.
You cannot improve your game if you don't have a cue and snooker table

I´m 6 2" and my one piece cue is 58.75". My 3/4 cue is 59" and both feel just right.
Tryed a 59.5" cue before, but it was just a bit to long.
Sometimes i played with 58" cues when i didnt got my cue with me...it was also ok.
57" would be definitly to short.
But i know a very decent player who is about 6 3" or 6 4" and he is using a 57" cue.
His griphand is at the very the end of butt during cueing. I think Peter Ebdon´s griphand is in a similar way.
mind control > body control > cue control > ball control

im 6"3, have tried a 60.5" cue last few months but couldnt get on with it..just didn't feel comfortable with it
now switched back to a 58" cue, plays better with it but feels it is a friction short..waiting for a 59.5" UT and 59" trevor
I think 59" would be prefect because there was almost 2" hanging out from my grip hand when I was using the 60.5" cue

I'm 6'4" and my cue was 58.5", iv since had it shortened to 57.5 as I wanted the ferrule diameter increased, since iv had the work done the cue still feels very comfortable to use.

i'm 6'4" as well but find my cue arm quite far forward of vertical at the address with anything shorter than 58", even if holding the cue on the very end. but then i could have a long armspan i suppose or maybe things like bending the bridge arm could make a bit of difference....
I dont have a cue at the moment and i just find my buying options extremely limited because of the need for a longer cue...

its intersting how hight isnt a strict factor in determining how long a cue players find comfortable. i'm the same hight as the best player around here and his cues something like 62". feels ridiculously long to me yet he holds it on the very end. Must have orangatang arms! i had a few frames with a rack cue last night that i think was 58" and holding that right on the end could just about feel ok with it...
