Any pictures? If its an older one then I think they were quite good. I think the company packed in like a lot of good English cue makers. Two of the guys who worked at L&W (Dave Buswell and Chris Smith) went on to set up Mastercraft cues.
If its a modern L&W it could be a Chinese made and they're just using the L&W name.
