Well you would defiantly stand out among the crowd in the club using it...... Not my cup of tea either, but I bet it's a beauty to play with!!

Do you think at some point a cue maker would stop and think to himself "Hey, ive got my name and reputation to think about here" as its not really a design that i want to be associated with my name, being a bit loud is an understatement lol. What i mean by this is as follows, if a person wasn't familiar with Trevor White cues and they came across this one they would naturally think that its a bit too whacky, they could then associate that cue maker with making whacky cues if they didn't know better. When i first saw that cue on ebay i was really suprised to see that it had a Trevor White badge.

It would be interesting to hear if Mike Wooldridge would make a similar cue as loud as that one, i appreciate that business is business at the end of the day but so is the image of your brand. I guess it would be ok as a sort of exhibition piece to show off someone's skills but as a day to day cue that you would take to a club, errrrr deffo nope lol. It would be the equivelant of driving through Halfords in a Ferrari as in (Trevor White cue) and coming out with every go faster stripe stuck to your car that they had in stock and it being plastered in spot lights. You wouldn't do that to a Ferrari.

I see this cue as more art that shows what you can do with wood rather than an actual playing cue , i'm not sure i could turn up at our local club with that cue and avoid having the mick taken, nice shaft though.

One mans meat is another mans poison.Who are we to judge, someone obviously loved the design, once. As an exercise , such as JP Ltd Eds, it is quite a beautiful cue,but you would need some stones and broad shoulders to even think of getting it out of the case round my way. Each to their own though.

Everytime I see this cue I begin to like it just a little bit more everytime I go on at first I thought WTF is that but now its got a unique look to it as no one will have a cue like it as you can say with the normal splice cues they can be made again quite often but not many will want a cue built quite like this.

Looks like a bunch of dodgy bits of wood that he thought he'd use up :snooker: seems a waste of what looks like a nice shaft

                Horrific cue!

I have seen pictures of this cue before, not sure if it was the same cue or not.

Wonder if the board used for the splices were made by Trevor as well. Seem like several types of wood were used and they were not always patched in the same order. Quite interesting.

Would be boring if everyone just makes cues that look the same, wouldn't it? How would it look if all cue makers only make plain ebony and burwat champion designs?

Cue making is a form of art, it is common to see a great painting that is not to everyone's taste. Joan Miró is one of my favorite artist. I am sure not all of you like his work. :-) It would be boring and rather pointless if all artists only paint something they know would sell and suit the tastes of the majority. Without any boldness and incentive to push the boundary, there will be no creativeness and all cues will look rather similar. Yes, it will sell more cues and keep the reputation of the cue maker as one that does not make "wacky" design but where is the integrity of a great artist if he does not dare to create something he likes.

Besides, who says anything about using this cue? :-) The buyer may just want to collect Trevor's unique work and keep it in his collection. In that regard, if I was the buyer, I would ask Crispian to make a matching case for the cue.

Just for the record, I am not a big fan of this design myself, as I do not like to use checkerboard, humbug and things like that for splices. I do not even like dyed veneers. That is just me and my personal taste. However, it does not stop me from appreciating this cue. Although I am not a big fan of Picasso's work, I can look at his work and appreciate them. It is not about whether I would put that in my living room--it is just that when I look at such a piece I know what has gone into it and I can appreciate the boldness and creativeness.

It is much harder and takes more character to go against the crowd to create something that one knows might be mocked and ridiculed at--just because as an artist that is how he wants to express his ideas and concepts.

With art, you cannot expect all pieces to be done in your taste, but you can always appreciate the creativeness and boldness when you see an artist attempting a design that has not been attempted, and have executed that concept to perfection.

Okay, that was my 3 minutes on a soap box, thanks for listening. :-)

This cue suits Mark Selby as he's known as the Jester from Leicester, if you look at his website there is a Jester wearing a hat with very similar colours to that cue... Just a thought... LOL

The boards are quite impressive too with the curved veneers separating them. I'd be happy to have this one because it show's off Trevor's sublime skill at splicework. He's probably top notch in all aspects, but ahead of everyone else by a country mile in terms of splicework IMO.

The pictures on ebay are not very favourable.
A similar cue with a better picture:

                          Looks pretty cool!

BTW: Dyed veneers are 80ies style

i dont think they are dyed veneers,if you look at how its made all the splicings have been glued to a thin maple veneer and if you could see all way round it you would prob be able to tell what all the woods are,i will take a pic of 1 ive got and post
