Is Maple stiffer than Ash

I have one ash and one maple cue and the maple is like a garden hose compared to the ash.

I have a maple cue to play pool, just under 8mm, love it! although the shaft is now broken due to me breaking with it.....bad mistake....learnt my lesson to have a breaking cue..
