Neil was in the shop a few days ago and Rob has got a few machine spliced cue's in the rack might be worth going up there and having a look after all it's all about the shaft at the end of the day

The only thing I would say is after years of playing around with cue's I'm pretty sure I know what makes a good playing cue for me personally. So I might take a trip up to craftsman shop in Leeds so I can try the cues before I buy or any shop that stocks a large selection of cue's. I would never purchase another custom made cue as from my experience the shaft is the most important thing about a cue and the shaft on every cue I've had made has not been what I'm looking for even when I tell the cue maker what I'm after. I think it is very hard to communicate how you want the shaft and given the best will in the world and experience no cue maker can say with 100% certainty what a shaft will be like when it's finished. I'm in no rush at the moment as I given the game up for a few months.

If you want to play the pink, but you're hampered by the red, you could always try to play the brown!

there are three problems with this. One like how can you convey what you want in an email.
Two even if you had a Cue with you and said this is what I want there is no way he can guarantee that the shaft will turn out like that.
three as I established in this thread and others money is king and at the end of the day the cue maker once having made the cue is not going to turn round and ok you don't like that one I'll make you another.
RO has the right idea he knows what he want's from a cue and when JP has a few RO comes and picks what he wants and trys them out before deciding what one is a keeper. This is IMO is far better way of finding the correct cue then having a custom cue made.
But as we are not Ronny the best thing is to try as many rack cue's before purchasing.Last edited by cazmac1; 25 October 2011, 03:24 PM.
