I think unless you are ordering some weird design or very strange specs there should be no need to pay up front at all !!
Because of long waiting lists, if original buyer pulls out i'm sure the maker can sell the cue no problem at all
I'm not sure that he would want this to be public knowledge though JRC...
    Tear up that manure-fed astroturf!

      • it's quite simple.

make a cue then sell it.

do not take orders until you are ready or have enough knowledge to deal with all the potential issues.

these 'new' cuemakers need to gain experience and 'cut their teeth' properly over a period of time.

unfortunately, many members here think that cos someone posts a few (well taken) pics it means they are capable of delivering custom made cues similar in quality to the established guys.

so, at the first opportunity, they hound the newbies into making them a cue at a cheap price.

then they get f*cked and wonder why.

just leave them alone and let them earn a reputation first.

          Exactly
I can understand if he were to charge overseas buyers a deposit tho, as would be harder to chase up if they pulled out etc

          • Hopefully Dan will get his house in order and sort this mess out . Dont know him personally but have spoke to him on here and over the phone and he seems a nice guy who bit off a bit more than hecould chew , obviously his personal troubles did,nt help one bit .
I really hope he turns things around and gets back where he wants to be . like others i,m one of the ones who lost out after paying in full and yes it left a bitter taste in my mouth but that taste will soon go if Dan pulls out all the stops .

I sincerely hope and wish him all the best . Come on Dan you can do it if you really have the desire to.

BUYERS PLEASE LISTEN TO THE MAN.........this advice is the best you are ever going to be given....... members are paying crazy money for cues and the chance of getting it back through resale is slim....

                    • but you should not expect to get all your money back on a resale every thing generally depreciates in value its not like bricks and morter

                        er
your right jim, but not all members see it that way...anyway to protect the members from this ever happening ferret needs to step in and put a rule in place, Mike has said and done all he can and members are no longer closer to getting their cues, Can dan ever come back from this and start again i feel not as the trust issue will always be there.....I think he should issue a statement of apology and promise the people owed money that he will try and pay them back even if it mean selling everything....

                        • i know there is bitterness about over this but it takes time to recover from a kick in the gonads we all know different recovery rates its like losing a loved one some people recover quick dont mean they ave forgot dan as virtually lost everthing including i think one of the main things his pride those people that do have cues of his should hold on to them because they could become early collectables similar aurora i know it dont help them who have lost out time is the only healer on this i think

                          • Creditors are the last to see anything from failed businesses and that will always be the way it is and generally they get nothing.

I've read this and credit to those who tried but maybe too much hope has been given where more than 99% of the time creditors just get angry, not paid and then move on.

Expect the worst and if anbody receives something in future consider it a bonus.

                            Not positive but maybe realistic.
