  • why no odd spliced cues ?

Most butts of cues comprise 4 pieces of (ebony)timber.why not 3 or 5?
there must be other inconveniences for cuemakers to do such jobs. I can see that a special style clinch which clips the butt timbers glued to the shaft before planing is required at least.
when everyone hold 4 spliced cues in their hands, it should feel a little different or superior to have a 3 or 5 spliced cue with its butt contoured triangle or pentagon.

    a fancy flash only,ha

Interesting that you should mention this.I was at a league match a fortnight ago and there was a player who owned a cue with three splices. He has tried to research this cue,to no avail,I look forward to what the forum members have to say on the matter.I am led to believe the butt is circular ,not triangular , in section , it just has three splices planed or turned round.
