  • Cue Recommendation for a Beginner

    Hey guys,

Finally going to take the plunge and purchase my first cue. Love watching snooker on the tv, so I would like to purchase my own cue and really try to improve. The problem is that there are so many different variations and since I'm just starting out I really haven't a clue what to look for haha.

So hopefully this information helps someone help me find the right cue... I'm 6'2" with quite long arms so would need a longer cue? Or are they generally all the same length? And lastly my budget is £50-£70. I don't have a lot of money right now especially coming up to Christmas! So yea if anyone has any cues that fit what I'm looking for I'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks,

    Chris

For that money I would say try eBay. I brought a cue on eBay for £30 + post and packaging and it wasn't a bad cue at all. The only thing I didn't like about it was the joint. something like this would suit you

Hi Jaggy... maybe you'd want to check out Greenbaize and Craftsmen... they've got their own websites and received good reviews from members here...

If you Have never Played the game before and/or just start to take it up i would go too expensive or extravagant. Rileys or bce do good starter cues. Personally I would recommend a 3-piece because you get more for your money with the extension.

However If you feel that a rileys or bce would not be suitable then i would recommend "Craftsman cues" I brought my cue from there and It was handmade to my specs.

Anyway let us know what you finally decide

looks like a good cue for the money and comes in the right length. The picture shows a two piece and is advertised as a 3/4

Hello Jaggy. I've just joined this forum to basically ask the exact question that you did. We both must be getting sucked in with it being on tele,ha!!
I'm not very good but would like to improve and get my own cue. My price range similar to Jaggys. When I play down local club I use cues of the rack just and feel more comfortable with a heavy cue. What sorta weight would I be looking or do it really matter?
                        Thanks

Are there any experienced players there , if so ask them if they could roughly tell you the weight of the cue you like . They will give you a close idea .
